Did the Recent Upgrade Kill the Club?
#1

It seems the recent site upgrade has killed the forum!   Personally, I find the new look far more difficult to navigate.   Is anyone else out there?

It is a little bit difficult to see the latest new tributes... cant find the button for the new messages since your last visit.

Yeah, it seems like a step backwards. I was actually wondering if anyone would bring this up, although the "View new posts" and "View today's posts" are actually available under the "Misc" pulldown menu. SO it looks like the main menus are still available, but the new format is a lot more cumbersome than the previous one.

The upgrade was necessary, due to the age of the software it was literally shut off. So the choice was either leave it down and abandon it or migrate it to new software.

For the New Posts, you can click on the Portal button to see all of that, or on the right side of the screen on the main page there is a section showing New Posts.

Everything else is the same, same categories and data and photo albums and such.

yea it was tough to find the new posts, but finally did.
I am just overall resistant to change. I understand it was necessary.
I won't ever have a new avatar as I don't / won't use apps on my phone and you can only update the photo with this app, which I find very weird and off putting.
I post about as often as I did, which isn't very much.

If you click on User CP at the top of the forum index, where it says Welcome back, username,  it will take you to the User Control Panel. In the left hand menu there is an option for Change Avatar. I'm not aware of an app for the forum.

To use a Gravatar enter your Gravatar email.

This is what I get - I have no idea what gravatar is and if it requires an account and an email address I am surely not interested.

I don't have that option...I don't know what you are seeing but I don't have it. No matter what I click on I get -

I deleted my avatar with intentions to change it and maybe that's the issue. I can't change it, I wants me to use that app to upload a new one. If I hadn't deleted it and just tried to change it, maybe I would have the option you are showing.

Also the process to reply to a post is not a simple or as obvious as it should be when quoting and replying.
This isn't fun for me. I have been online since we had bulletin boards and I have built my last 10 pc's - I shouldn't be having issues with a simple forum program. I own two websites myself. Color me frustrated.

I fixed the permissions on the Avatar upload. Not sure of your Reply and Quote issues, there should be a button at the bottom of each post to allow for that.

I’m also active on three guitar-related forums that have recently been updated. All three of them are substantially more intuitive and much easier to navigate than this post-updated one.

Want to buy some guitars? I have three and can't seem to figure out how to play. Have an small orange crate amp for sale too.
Also have harmonicas as I haven't gotten anywhere with them either...lol

Thanks. It is now allowing me to upload an avatar. I guess it was a moderator / permissions issue and is now fixed.

On another note,   Subscribe without receiving any notification of new replies seems to be the default - I have to select Do not subscribe to this thread each time I post. Not sure what everyone's preference is, but I don't subscribe to anything. I don't want / like to get notifications on anything like this...thanks.
