Rumors About New Porsche Hatchback????
#1

Mounted up front will be a 295hp version of one of the boxer engines used in the Boxster/Cayman with drive likely sent to all four wheels via a newly developed compact AWD system.

A font mounted flat 6 and AWD - sweeeet!

I think Porsche may want to hire this designer.

exactly...can't say I dislike it though. BMW's little M coupe is neat and you sure don't see too many.

i certainly like it better than either of the bmws - depending on how it is set up, might like it better than the audi too

Do we really want Porsche to revive the 944/968 line?

As soon as they do our cars will start to age.

Our cars still look modern and until the really weird stuff starts rolling out they will stay that way. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The Front looks Volvo, though

To get back on topic... a friend of mine read that the car from the first post above was a 3D mock-up and that it will follow the Panamera... probably in 2012.

Man I wish they would get back to building sports cars and leave the sedans and vans and such to Audi and VW. They make better production sports cars than anyone in the world.

It is interesting how Porsche and Audi are starting to compete harder with each other even though Porsche is set to take majority stake in VW. I am not a fan of the concept illustration. As an owner of a Scirocco and Corrado, I dislike the new Scirocco and see it as nothing more than a modified next gen GTI. I don't mind if they revive the 968 as long as they don't stray too far from the original design. The 911 has gone through many versions but you can still see the genes from the early 911's and 356 coupes. Yet it is a different car. I don't see a 944/968 in the concept from that designer. I feel that like the Scirocco, that concept on its own may do well as a brand new model but not a remake of an original favorite.

I wonder what happened to the rumors about a new 928? If I had to guess, maybe they went away from making the 928 because of the current gas prices. Not many would buy them with a gas guzzling V8. If you had a more efficient flat 6, the 944/968 would make more sense.

I think the 928 rumor is still out there. The last I heard the thought was after the Panamera comes out there might be a coupe version of the car at some point.
