RNC - "Lock her up!" and (maybe) the next political dynasty

Congress excluded themselves from Obamacare and has a slush fund to pay off sexual harassment suits. Forget being king. Plus you can’t sue them.

Slight tangent but still on the political spectrum ; I get the confenderate statues and flags removal ( to some extent, but ok, whatever ..) however, there are some groups now calling for removal of the Ralph Kramden statue . Ralph Kramden !! A fictitious TV character ! The arguement is that he portrayed someone who constantly threatened ( in a very jokingly manner, mind you ) to hit his wife . WTF ?!

So what’s next ? Ban any reruns of All In The Famility because of Archie Bunker’s character ? This has gotten so silly, it’s beyond belief !

The statues are certainly a topic that causes consternation. Yet what I think is forgotten is that this is a part of the history of the US. When people talk of erasing history the country is not better for it. We don’t live in a perfect world. History allows us to learn from mistakes and have a context. Slavery was an issue from the founding of this country. Should we erase anything that had to do with slavery? A great deal of our history would be erased. How would that make this a better country? One might argue that any and everything having to do with native Americans should be rewritten. Now I know they don’t teach history anymore but the point is the same.

Flash posted this on another thread, and Im reposting the quote here because I think its suitable on this thread here as well.

:it's a lot like the recent unemployment numbers, which do not hold up to the light when you factor in the people who have stopped looking, and have fallen out of the unemployment figures, and that the bump in new jobs are mostly minimum wage. looks good in the headlines, but if you actually look at it, you see it's all hooey, and people are having to take 3 of those jobs to pay the mortgage

This is precisely the reason for the so-called low unemployment : over 60:% of those jobs are not only minimum wage, but theyre short-lived as well . Sure its probably better than no jobs at all, but lets not be fooled by the hype .. and

And all media sources are constantly underscoring this which only makes Trump look good , so cant really accuse them of having a liberal bias and agenda, can you ? Im afraid if the economy , and particularly the stock market continues at this rate , or even very modest increases, unless hes impeached ( though its only going to be a Clinton-like impeachment ) hes going to be re-elected no matter who runs against him . People vote with their wallets !!

p.s. losing the apostrophes the moment I post something drives me nuts ! I see what I write before I push that button, and when I read what is transcribed I feel like punching the sceeen . Only happens on this forum posts, nowhere else . Im sure it must be my iPad not syncing somehow with the forums system , since no one else is experiencing this , but like I said , its perfectly fine everywhere else .

It is likely time to clear your cache. This is not a 968Forums issue.

Have no idea what that means so consequently no idea how to do that, but Ill ask my son to perform that task and that should resolve this . Since Im obviously severely technically challenged, I probably still wont undersdand why this happens only on a single site , but not anywhere else out of dozens of other places.. maybe he will explain that also.

Wait, just looked this up ...cache = history ? I clear all the history daily, and swipe off all of the apps that may still be running in the background ! ( RAP, no wiseas*s remarks as to why I do that , lol ) . Ok, back to the compurer support member of the household for answers,

On witn the political banter :-) .

I frequently do the same. Of course I am not intimating that I do it for the same reasons. You must live with your own reasons. I wonder who is more technically challenged ?

I sell “ truck bodies”, some of which come out of Reading, PA. The lead time for those is 33 weeks!!! 33 weeks!!! If that’s not a sign of a HOT economy, I don’t know what is! When my customers complain, I use the following line: “It has to do with the HOT economy in the USA! Like him or not, that Trump guy is to blame!”. The usual response I get us: “F*** that Trump guy, but I’d take him over our wimpy Prime Minister any day!!!”

So the 33 week wait is not because the company in Reading outsources production of those body panels to China and theyre held up at ports until they clear customs, only after the imposed tariffs are satisfied ? Ok, ok, just kidding, could not resist my cynicism . And Ford just announced theyre cutting 7,000 jobs in the middle of an economic boom, so some auto segments do well, others not so well perhaps. But sure, there are no doubt many industries thriving nowadays, and some would argue its becuase of complete deregulation which will eventually bite us in the a*s, and really hard, but on the other side of the coin the extreme left is pushing for over-regulation which has a tendency to bring economic growth to a grinding halt, so as I said many times before , centrist approach to just about anything usually delivers not only positive short term results, but works best in the long term as well. However, centrism has lost its voice and leverage, its only the fringe nut jobs on both sides who manage to get the most visibility and also end up with an inexplicable cult-like following .

Yes, we have the same impression of your PM - rather wimpy . But his politeness and being a very mild mannered all around non-confrontational diplomatic guy is about as consistent as it gets with the worlds perception of Canadians, isnt it ?
