Mint Green 968
#21

Jeff,

I was not aware that Rubystone Red was a solid color; based on my recollection of the 964 RS, I thought that it was a metallic color. Thanks for pointing that out--it's always great to learn something new about the cars that I love.

Man, you shouldn't have posted a picture of that Ruby 968 Coupe... Now I am going to have visions of it dancing around in my head, and, before you know it, I will take either the black or amazon coupe to the paint shop with orders to paint her ruby! (To make the election process easier, I could just flip a coin. ) I have run the idea of painting one of my cars Ruby by several people in the past, and they thought I was crazy. They said that it looks too pink, too feminine. I have to admit that the color does look a bit on the feminine side, but there is just something about it! It's so infectious! In regards to the color being too feminine, considering that I have a 1989 Velvet Red Metallic 951, in the final analysis, I don't suppose that Rubystone Red would be that big of a stretch for me after all... At least I'll still have a car painted in that quintessentially "manly" color--Guards Red.

FR,

It will be interesting to see which of us breaks down and paints his car Ruby first! If both of us do it, we would HAVE TO park them next to each other at an event (or two).

Thanks very much for your kind words.

Welcome to the site. I feel a bit strange in saying that, for I have not been very active during the past couple of years, in reality. However, I resolve to change that and pop in more often. Now that I am settled into my new job and graduate school, perhaps I can do just that!

I am curious to know more about your car. Perhaps I missed it, but do you currently have a coupe or a cab? What year is she? What color is she? (Judging by your name, I suspect that it's blue, but not midnight or cobalt. I suppose that that leaves iris, horizon, maritime, and tahoe?) By the way, you are correct in saying that midnight blue approximates black in hue; nice color, indeed.

HI NeedPorscheSpeed ,

Currently i have a red 968 Cab in pretty good condition i would say a 7 out of ten. I had a Cobalt Blue 968 Cab in Just about perfect condition 9.5 out of 10 with just a little road rash in the front and the top of the door skins were turnig a bit black due to the sun but it had Grey interior.

I had sold my Blue 968 about 6 yrs ago to a guy in Ohio to buy a 96 Dodge Viper (Guess waht color) yup Blue W/ white stripes, I do love that car an currently still have it but i wish i didnt sell my blue 968 and held out a bit longer due to the fact you can still get 96-97 Vipers with low miles but you cant find a Cobalt 968 with low miles. If only we could turn back the hands of time!!! I would have 3 wishes!!!! 1) prevent my 2 brothers deaths 2) Never sell my Blue 968 3) remember the lottery numbers lol.

Like i said i look forward to meeting all of you, hopefully i will be invited.

Thanks

Blue968,

I'm so sorry to hear about your having lost two of your brothers. That's terrible!

Back to the original topic of this thread, I remember seeing a mint green 968 in Oxnard, CA about two years ago. It was on CL. I almost went down to see it but couldn't stomach the color at the time. Since then, it has grown on me and would be an awesome car to see alongside the mint green cab. IIRC it had 40k miles with 17 inch rims and painted rear spoiler. It was quite impressive. Does anyone know what happened to this car?

I was just going to ask the same question as I remember seeing that car for sale for several months I think the lowest price was $18K and I talked to him because I remember it had a very nice looking black interior with factory sport seats and 17" rims so I was thinking it might have 220 and 030 but it did not so I moved on! The interesting colored and optioned cars are the ones worth the most when there not around anymore like in 30 years from now? Mint green is priceless!

My 94 coupe is Midnight Blue Metallic. The Blue really only comes through in bright light. In low light or flat light it appears to be black to most people including the PRB(Peoples Republic of Berkeley) cop who gave me a ticket for no front license plate when I was there on business a few weeks ago. When you park it next to a true black car it is obvious that the color is a very dark blue.
