" Shirley " ?! Is that something like Caitlyn ( Jenner ) ? :-) :-) Not worrying about you Bob, lol, and yes, I have plenty of things to keep my worry compartment full, but if I ever hear God speaking to me , as he apparently does to televangelists , and I think even to one or two of the notable politicians running for president of the United States, I think that worry deserves a whole different category all by itself ..though nothing a straight jacket and padded walls can't solve for them.

Oh, this topic is never at a lack for comic relief ; FoX News chief meteorologist Pat Robertson has just forecasted a weekend of fire and brimstone followed by floods , hurricanes and tornadoes , and of course flying monkeys to sweep whatever is left of earth in the aftermath, as a direct result of today's Supreme Court decision. Watch out for God's wrath ! He stopped short though of recommending good Christians seek shelter in churches. 'Ya know, if hurricanes and tornadoes are God's response to same gender marriage ( yes, Pat and many other evangelists categorically associated the two as cause and effect ) God has a really bad aim, ' cause for some reasons those catastrophic events never seem to land on West Hollywood, or in San Francisco, Fire Island, Key West, etc.. Ironically, most of them seem to hit the Bible Belt states and mid-west regions with very devout religious folks. Has to be bad aim..

That's a perfect decoy to place on your property ( a mobile home / trailer ) just in case a tornado ends up on your area ...

This pretty much sums it up for me.  I wish I could be this eloquent.

Yup, it does pretty much sum it up.

Separate note but I picked up on a comment made by the Pope essentially blaming the world powers for not stopping the holocaust. As enlightened , open minded and as modern ( in relative terms to other popes ) as pope Francis may be, I found that comment to be rather ironic coming from the leader of those who beleive in an all seeing ,all omnipotent / almighty and especially all benevolent God.

So it begs the question, " - why didn't God stop the f'ing holocaust ?! ..you're expecting the world powers to do that ? " Oh, I'm sure the answer would be identical to every other answer to the world,s ails and misery ; God gave man free will , that's why he doesn't step in and run interference, even though he could of course .. ". Well, ok then, I suppose the world powers exercised their free will and chose to do nothing, so why blame them, lol.

Oh sorry, I had to edit this post because I just remembered the holocaust, alongside cancer, dead babies, murdres, hunger, poverty and misery, etc. all happens for a reason ( the fundamental belief behind every religion, not just Christianity ) so it's all part of God's " master plan ". My apologies to God for questioning that master plan, my mere human mind is unable to comprehend the end-reason to the plan, but it's bound to be divine.

The usual answer from theologians is that if bad things happen it was caused by the imperfect humans, if good things happen then god did it.

You guys are still hating on religion. Some much hate, so little time on this earth. I suppose whatever makes you feel good.

Personally, I don't have time to hate on those that disagree with me, I've got better things to do.

Curious, will any of you vote for Hillary Clinton? I suppose you know why I ask.

"You guys are still hating on religion."  Nope, just offering freedom.  It's the foundation of our country.  Interested?

Serious? I know hate when I read it. It's okay to admit it, natural for us humans. As an American, you can hate, it's okay.

Voting for HIllary Clinton?

Has she expressed any given position on her religion and / or religious beliefs' role in government ? I know Bill at least professed to be a religious man though not sure they went to church together all that often, lol. Not sure they did anything together all that often for that matter.

I don't vote in presidential or congressional elections anymore, just local or state initiatives, but conceptually if she was the nominee and if her main opponent on the republican side barked about God and scripture in every other speech as many of the current candidates do ..yeah, I might..although it would be more of a vote against the other candidate than it would be for her. Not really a fan of hers..

As for "hate" I frankly don't see that at all in any of these discussions, I think it's similar to our debates re any other topics in non-car threads. But I recognize that it could probably be taken more personally by some who have very deep seeded and closely held beliefs,.. However, it's not by any means hate-driven, IMO, anyway..

Not sure what this has to do with religion, but HELL NO, I will not be voting for Hillary. Lest you draw any conclusion from that, I can barely imagine holding my nose and voting for any candidate from any party at this time.

Pretty much ready to abandon the US, I want to live somewhere quieter, less politically charged and without feeling like I'm under the microscope all the time. Long term, I plan to reduce my digital footprint to my kindle, or less.

JMHO,

I was also wondering what voting for Hillary has to do with religion and suggest that question be addressed on the other political thread ( the " get ready to pay more for less " ) one , but then I thought WJH asked that because she might be the only candidate out of the bunch who has not categorically invoked God in some way or another into her campaign speeches, either previously or now ?

I think Jay and I will end up as neighbors in retirement, I am also disgusted and discouraged by this country's politically and socially hyper-charged environment which seems to be getting worse instead of better.
