Recommendation for Tan car cover
#1

I would like to find a reasonable cost tan car cover for the 968 - I feel it is getting too much sun as I've had it out of the garage. Can anyone suggest a good quality tan cover...I think I would prefer custom fit, but if there is good experience with a universal, that might work. I am not too familiar with the various materials, but think I would like something with some heft, rather than a very thin lightweight cover. Any experience would be appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by "tan" cover, but I use a car cover by Autotechnica that is PVC with a soft fluffy lining. Its very water proof, heavy and inexpensive. PVC may not breathe as well as other hi-tech material but it does have vents and I have not noticed moisture problems. If you only need to use it for short term while car is un-garaged I think this is an OK solution and not sure an expensive custom cover is required. Of course, you need to make sure the car is clean and dry before putting any cover on to avoid scratching and fungal growth on cover or paint.

Another vote for the Autotecthnica cover.

I have been using these on all my cars for the last eight+ years, always with good results.

I have used these to cover vehicle stored outside in the Australian sun, which is a high heat and UV environment and they have consistently provided a minimum three year life before they start to harden up or show sign of failure.

Those used as a dust cover in a garage environment have an extended life.

For their cost I believe them to be great value.

Baz

Thanks for the suggestion. For tan, I mean beige or khaki color. I'll take a look at the AutoTechnica.

Thanks Flash, looks like a great source, and they have the tan color available in several versions. Have you used any covers from them for outdoor - looks like they have multiple options for material.

i've had a cover or two from them, but don't remember which fabrics, and they weren't for this car - as you say, they have a lot from which to choose - the company has been around for a LONG time, and has a good rep

this is definitely where i get the duster though
