Porsche grey beige color
#1

Replacing my center console. My intr is light gray. I think I found one but its listed as gray beige..

Is this an actual Porsche color? Looks like what I need in the pics but we all know how deceiving Internet pictures can be.

Here is a link to the item. Note how they specify that its not an option with late model 968's

Thanks for finding that - I just hit the buy it now button as I need it too...

I kid I kid!

I would suggest you call OK Foreign and ask for clarification. They might not know, but worth a shot. My only concern would be MY differences in color between the 944 and 968 series, or perhaps a unique 944-only interior color. Who knows.

Either way, if it is in good condition, it's pretty cheap.

You can also try DC Automotive and there is dismantler in PA that Pete uses (can't remember name). They might have one from a 968 with the exact color match.

I'll be getting a new-to-me black in the future. The original owner attached a cell phone bracket the passenger's side of the console, leaving two nice screw holes near the radio.

Interior colors are generally very confusing.

But fortunately for you, that auction actually lists the complete parts number (944.552.051.00) with the color code "4DY" -- which according to PET is a "light grey" used in 85-88 944's (and I guess 89 944s as well). If you look in PET, the 968's did not use any center console with that color code. In fact, even though Porsche refers to it as "light grey", in looks like a tan-beige than grey.

In fact, according to PET, it's more likely that your '94 968 is either "classic grey" or "marble grey". My '94 parts car has "marble grey", and you can definitely tell it's grey, rather than "well, I guess it looks grey..."

I need a set of swatches from Porsche.

I got a new storage lid from paragon when I purchased my car. The lid was titles "linen" and matched perfectly. From that point on I thought my intr was linen/blk 2 tone. Recently I purchased a set of light gray sport seats (I love them and it was a long search) To my surprise the color matched my old seats. I expected them to be a bit lighter.

So now I'm reading this gray beige color and wondering just what it looks like. If it doesn't match my seats I will have to try and resell it. Who has the time. Sure looks right in the photos.

The 944 had a color called "linen" and I think this is what most refer to when they say "gray-beige". I'm not sure if there were any linen interiors for the 968 series cars. Calling Jeff? As for the grays I know, Light Gray is almost white, Classic Gray is the early 92-93 darker gray and Marble Gray is the late 94-95 darker gray. Linen has more of a beige tint to it. You could always go the SEM vinyl spray paint route.

I thought you were talking about the classic gray that turns into classic brown after UV exposure. You think the SEM stuff would work on that Daryl?

OK Darryl, how good is your memory?

From what you recall would you say my intr is light gray or linen.

rxter...don't have first hand experience on the SEM with this specific application. I plan to try it out on the tops of my doors. Probably one of the last things I will do, so don't hold your breath waiting on me to post results!! If it doesn't work, I'll just get them redone with the correct Calssic Gray Vinyl.

Rhude...I do remember seeing your interior but I can't honestly say I looked at it that closely, sorry. That being said, I don't think it was as light as my light gray in my Coupe. Perhaps Jeff can chime in if you can provide your interior code from your option sticker as the end all be all true color.

According to your sticker (interior color code "PJ") and what Jeff has in his database (see here: thread elsewhere), your interior is "marble grey". And I'm pretty sure that the console in the eBay auction is an "LQ" interior (I used own one) -- which is much different. The one in the auction might also be "linen", which was 89-90 only color (I used own one, too). Many of these photos look the same in the photos, but are clearly different once you see in person.

BTW, I have a parts car in that color (90% sure it's the same color. It's missing option sticker, but it says "Marble Grey" in Porsche CofA). Do you need anything?
