I bought my '92 with a failed bearing just a few months ago. I found a used transmission for a grand and had it installed at a buddy's transmission shop for $350. So, $1350 and back on the road. I've driven about 2,000 miles since, and no problems so far. I guess you take a bit of a chance with a used transmission but I trusted the guy I bought it from on the mileage and condition. I thought about rebuilding mine at a cost of $2,000 but decided to take the gamble, and spend the difference on other needed repairs. I figure if this one goes out (hopefully 90% chance it won't?), I'll rebuild it with LSD.
