popped in to the LA auto show today
#1

so, i had a chance to take advantage of my press credential and went to the l.a. auto show on press day, before they open it up to the public tomorrow - i was expecting to see a lot of industry guys there, but most of them were taking the day off, preparing for the onslaught tomorrow

took some shots - here are a few:

not something you see every day

a nice spread

dan's favorite car

with nice "accessories"

That Vette was in last months issue of motor Trend.

Not crazy about the styling. Reminds me of a striped down Aston. Callaway always fall short on design and originality IMO.

uh - that is an aston, not a vette

lol - if you looked at the car, and not the girl in the last shot, you'd see the logo

Are the second to last pic and the last pic of the same car? I ask because it looks like the rear of the car in the second to last pic says Callaway across the back and the ads in the background mention Callaway too (both pics).

Those last two pics are of a Callaway. It is the Callaway C16 Speedster. Maybe someone else was distracted by the "accessories" too.

roflmao - when i say the car from the rear i thought "vette" - when i saw the car from the front, i wasn't sure - when i saw the logo i thought "aston"

i actually had to blow up the pic to see the logo - it sure looks a LOT like the aston logo, and with all the photographers around the car, i couldn't get close enough to see that it was a callaway logo (wonder if they have copyright issues with that?)

and yes, to be honest i had a hard time focusing on the car

so, yup - looks like it is a vette after all

OK. One of us here is confused.

my understanding is that the Callaway series are nothing more then hyped up corvettes. An American based company that does to vettes what Saleen does for Mustangs.

You say that was an Aston??? Are you sure, I mean you were there.

It is a Callaway vette. Read the two previous posts and you'll understand everything.

When I started that reply the other posts were not written yet. (Note the 6 minute difference in posting times). Problem is, I'm at work and appears that my reply button is linked to my phone. Every time I start a reply my phone rings and carrys me in a completely different direction.

I was just about to get in my car, drive 500 miles and smack you upside the head for calling that "Chevy" my favorite car , then I read the subsequent posts and realized you thought it was a AM at first glance, from the front.. ok, I'll let it go this time, but it'll cost you a Newcastle or two next time I'm over..

nice photos though !

it definetely was a very sacreligious comment. How dare ye insult the aston martin by mistaking it for a chevy.

lol - well, the callaway vette is a better car by all measurable standards, so i don't know what the real problem is here - i like the look a lot better too

when i saw it i thought, "hey - now THAT'S a cool looking aston" - unfortunately it wasn't - instead it was a car a lot lighter, faster, better handling, and about half the price

never been a big aston fan, but there has been the rare exception - i thought aston really had something going with the DB7, but i think they blew it with the DB9, and i can't stand the rest of their line - way too big and bulky looking, and WAAAAAY too heavy

Is it just me or does the front hood fittment look a little sloppy gap-wise?

On the Callaway? Or on the Aston Martin's that Flash was talking about? If you are talking about the Callaway, I think it is just the angle of the photograph.

Funny, I did not notice a hood (or even a car) in the picture.

But all of a sudden I like purple.

lol - i think we covered this - i thought the callaway WAS the aston martin - looks a lot like it from the front, and at a glance, so does the logo

and i think her hood looks just fine, and i'm not going to get into discussions of her gap
