Paint Color
#1

OK.... So, I've finally decided that my '94 cab needs to be re-painted. Some serious fading on the trunk lid and driver's side rear quarter. It's Guards Red, which is a sweet (and popular) color, but it's not really my favorite.

What kid of impact would there be to resale value if I painted the car something other then the original paint color? Would it be better to stick with a Porsche color, or just go with the color I like best?

Have a feeling there will be strong opinions on this one....

Thanks,

Dwayne

one reason to keep it the original color is because of all the hidden sheet metal that is already that color.

to do it right one would have to take the car down to the bare chassis.

i wouldn't want to see a blue exterior with red under pinnings.

but if you never plan on selling it, like alot of 968ers seem to. then go nuts.

...or just paint it a different shade of red.

It IS possible to do a 'color change' paint job. But it's usually VERY expensive unless you do it yourself.

I've seen Porsche's that have been color-changed over to rare Porsche colors and they've enhanced the resale value. Mind you it did cost a bunch to do...

Hmmmmm, what Porsche color would I repaint my car to? Some of my favorites:

Amazon Green Pearl Effect <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Arena Red

Medium Green, almost like british racing green, only more metallic, don't know the Porsche name

GT Silver

Speed Yellow

Medium Blue, can't remember the name
