OT: Bahrain Grand Prix
#1

Wildly off topic of course, but I had to share this picture. It was shot in Bahrain a fortnight ago, and I'm the trackie in the "amber" tent.

You think?

They put me on marshalling the start line all Sunday (V8, Porsche Supercup, GP2, F1) until the final ten laps of the F1 race, when they moved me to the finish line post. Kid in a candy store...

He had. I support the guy in this photo, though. He didn't do too shabby either. All in all, it was a good race.

Yep, that's how close I got [Searching  smiley].

OK, just two more photos. This is, after all, a Porsche forum.

Bahrain is certianly a long way from Sweden. Do they import all the marshalls for the race? Do you work other F1 races too?

I met one marshal from Australia, but the vast majority were Bahraini, which only added to the experience. It is a long flight, but it was definitely worth it.

I go to F1 races here and there as a spectator, but I've never marshalled one before. This came through an unlikely series of events.

I'm invited to return next year, which I may very well do. The racing is great, and from what I've seen Manama is a very nice place to be.
