this sums up the last few seconds where the incredible timing of the rain was probably the biggest factor in determination of the championship :

A tremendous race. And while both contenders are certainly worthy of the title, I gotta say I wish it had gone the other way.

I could swear that the gap was only 5 points after the previous race. What happened that stretched it back to 7 points? I haven't bothered to Google it...

It certainly was one of the most exciting F1s of the year. The scrabble at the beginning to switch to intermediates and then back to "slicks" when the track dried. I thought that Lewis was toast when Vettel passed him for 5th place. But then the pass on the final turn to get past the Toyota. Wow. Massa did everything necessary but the 5th place or better was to much to overcome. How ironic, last year Lewis lost to Ferrari by 1 point and this year won by 1 poiint over Ferrari.

I real dozie on the last lap, Did you see Massa's family?

A little premature for celebrating.

I was pulling for Massa. He is a very passionate dude.

Vettel had another great run, as did Alonso.

Next year I think Kubica or Alonso will pull it off.

yeah, I was also hoping Felipe would take it, Lewis already has a pretty nice prize ( Nicole Scherzinger for a girlfriend.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ) so I would not have felt at all sorry for him if he had to be "consoled" by her <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> then again the "congratulations" he'll probably get at home can't be bad either <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

anyway, seriously it would have been great for Massa to have won - he truly earned it, and certainly deserved it. Lewis though a great driver in his own right, should have done a lot better in this race than he did, IMHO.. I know it's all strategy and why take any greater of a chance than you have to when you're 7 points ahead, but seems a bit lame to play it too safe..

Was still very cool to see the world championship decided on the last lap of the last race and by 1 point.
