Buy 968 w/M030 & LSD vs Buy w/out & Install Later?
#1

I am in the market for a 968 and have discovered finding "the right one" is VERY challenging. Simply finding a COUPE with a 6spd is proving difficult, let alone one with M030 components and an LSD. I've also found that those with an LSD already installed charge a premium for the luxury.

I am begining to think it would be easier to purchase a 968 WITHOUT all of these "goodies" and add them over time, picking up a nice specimen in good working order and condition, and then worrying about what "toys" to add later.

Would you recommend that I simply hold out and find a car with an LSD and M030 (finding a 968 with M030 is nearly impossible now'days) or installing the parts afterwards? Would I save money buying a lower priced car and adding these "goodies" after the fact or should I hold out and try to locate "the right one?"

Thank you again for all of your expertise! Everyone has been extremely helpful!

When I bought my car, I searched for a few months, and I wasn't looking for anything special. It just goes with the territory with these cars.

It all depends how desperate you are to get into a 968. How long have you been looking?

I've glanced through Panorama, Excellence, AutoTrader, etc for a few months, not really looking to buy, but simply out of curiosity. The time has come where I've gotten the itch to sell my current car (got bored with it and exceeded it's capabilities as a driver), and would like to move onto something more. So I've only been SERIOUSLY shopping for a couple weeks.

I know many have said they shopped for MONTHS before finding their car, unfortunatly I have yet to learn patience and want instant gratification. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Yep, patience is definitely in order. Like I said, I searched for a few months, and wasn't looking for anything special.

Incidentally, during the course of my search, I found out that after you run 40 CarFaxes, CarFax makes you sign a disclosure that you really are a private buyer!
