Hi All,

I am thinking of getting a 968 with a Limited Slip Differential. As I understand it, this will improve traction in slippery conditions. (corrct me if I'm wrong anyone?)

Is there any way to tell if a car has a LSD just from the VIN number?

I know the option code is 220. However 220 is also listed as a "locking differential". Also interesting, is that is that option 221 is listed a "Porsche-Locking Differential". Does anyone know the difference and which is preferrable?

Tx,

Arek

What about adding aftermarket LSD? I see RSBarn has a couple options there. Anyone done that? How much did that cost?

220 is option code for the factory Torsen LSD which is a torque sensing limited slip differential, ideally suited for road work

221 is the option code for he factory Clutch Type limited slip differential, ideally suited for track work

the 221 was only installed on the earlier cars - it was superseded by the 220

I bought from RSB the Torsion (torque biasing) LSD last year and had my mechanic install (he only charged me $300) since I was in for a valve job anyway.
I love the LSD. Really noticeable when accelerating. I don't feel any sideways torque like I use to with the stock diff.

129K. doesnt make any prominant noise these cars usually do. How much would shipping cost to the U.K. if we were to do a swap? How many Miles on your Clutch Type?
