Optima battery rebate ends 9-15-08
#1

For those of you considering an Optima battery, the company is offering a $25 rebate (up to 2 per household) that is valid on purchases thru 9-15-08. Looks like you can buy through any dealer (but I'm not sure about e-bay or amazon sales). Rebate has to be postmarked by 9-30-08.

I did considerable searching on the web. The price has jumped up since some of the last posts regarding Optima. I found the Optima Red-Top SC35A (as noted in prior postings) for $150 with no sales tax and no shipping/handing charges. Others had slightly lower prices but added shipping/handling fees. Batteries Plus wanted $165, but I also would have paid a high sales tax, so I opted for on-line order.

I used these guys, who seemed quite efficient. I also talked to them on the phone:

I have an Optima Redtop in my coupe- no issues with it so far. Have had it for quite a few months now.

when i was shopping for mine, i found it interesting that no matter which way i went about it, whether it was a lower price, but had high shipping and handling, or a moderate price but had a "processing" fee, or just straight pricing, the total came out to be the same

i am currently running a 3478

Can anyone tell me the battery that fits our cars without any mechanical issues?
I have searched the site and have found Optima RedTop.
Both model 34R and 35.
The 34R has the terminals reversed. This seems to be what need.
Does the hold down and the hold down clamp fit the Optima?
What about height or will the posts come too close to the hood? My existing battery measures 7" to the top of the posts but the Optima lit says they measure 7.8". Is this too tall? sparks?

Thanks
Brian

I just put an optima red top in my coupe. Preventative with winter coming, the old battery (Interstate) was working well.

Or so I thought. Once I put the optima in everything worked better, and I mean everything.

The old battery was only 3 years old. Go figure, but I do remember somewhere hearing that Porsche cars in general

like to have fresh batteries, and the improvements are noticeable.
