I hear Braille batteries are the easiest to install ; you can put those in with your eyes closed...

Peter, I don't remember the brand of my charger. I have had it for quite a few years, but it looks like Black and Decker has re-branded it as their own.

The desulfurization won't bring a dead battery back to life, but it has brought back some batteries that would not hold a charge for long back to usable status.

Thanks Ryan. Do they recommend De-sulfurization periodically. This is definitely a nice charger. May be worth buying over my ancient on/off un-smart charger.

Peter, I think there are lower priced versions with lower amperage that still have this "condition" feature. The reason it is needed is if you let a battery run down and re-charge. This deep cycle is what causes the sulfurization. I have this happen on a couple vehicles that sit all winter as I have 2 tractors and 2 cars that sit all winter in the shop.

Interstate Battery update. I just bought mine for 130$ installed from the "Batteries +" kind of "Interstate Batteries" store. They did a fine job, but they are set up more like a store than a auto-shop. I made them use a blanket since they didn't have a bumper guard. I had to stop him so I could clean out the leaves in there. No vacuum. It also took 3 weeks for them to get my battery.

These stores are probably going to go belly-up. They've got competition from Batteries Plus, internet, auto shops and so on. They have a big inventory of batteries too. All they sell is batteries and overprice chargers and flash lights. The store I visited had great service, but I can't see this lasting. 5 to 1 ratio of employees to customers. I can only see the service degrading.

The whole think kind of reminded me of the Scotch-Tape store in the old/ancient Saturday Night Live shows.

PepBoys is running 21% off for online purchases thru the end of the month with promo code FOUNDERS, picked up a Bosch for $102 after core return. Installation is free but not I'm driving my car with all the salt on the roads so i carried the old in and new out.

Going on 8 years on the interstate in my 968 (60 mo warranty) and just replaced the 9 year old Interstate in my Tacoma. Been buying interstate for years and never had one fail under warranty, what a waste of a warranty.

the biggest drain on the battery is the Starter motor, most are well past the sell by date. to save your battery get your starter rebuilt costs about £35.00 if I do them here I the UK, or about £120 if done by a professional shop, but well worth donig

...followed by the fans that run after turning the engine off.  Mine draw 12 amps!  On a hot day, they can run for up to 10 minutes or so.
