My fuel pump has been noisy since I bought my car little over a year ago. It does not sound like its going to break or anything, it's just very audible. I can hear it pumping when the car idles and when I push the revs up I can here it pumping harder/faster. Is this normal, or should it be quiet? I must admit I would prefer for it to be quiet, but I'm not going to have sleepless night over this, if it's the way they should be.
Thanks for the advice.

Noisy is not the problem, more irritating at the time. I replaced mine a year ago and now it is quiet, I can't hear it anymore.
If the pump make more revs when you push the pedal that is strange. Because the pump always works at the same speed.
It means the voltage goes up from the alternator and so the pump revs more.
I have a spare pump for you to test, if you like?. sent me a pm (because we're almost neighbours. aprox 20 kilometers I think) if you want to test the difference.

Johann,
Don't lose any sleep.
My fuel pump has been noisy for a long time.
I think it was probably 10 years ago when I first noticed it and had the pressure tested. Pressure was good, so I didn't do anything, but it always worried me. I've had it tested several times. Always good pressure.
After 10 years as a DD, I don't worry about it any more. Sometimes people who are riding in my car will notice and suggest I get it checked, but I don't hear it anymore.
It may even be more than 10 years.

It is easy to replace. (1 hour in total) I can take it with me to the meeting at Dimma's place.
But we could first hear how much noise it makes and if the pressure is good.
I do have a tester for the pressure. It wil 5 minutes to diagnose it.
Maybe we can do this test first.
