New to 968 with like new 968
#1

Güten tag! I recently bought my first 968 in December. It's a cherry 1994 coupe, 6 speed manual, Guards Red over Black/Cashmere, all original w/ 56k original miles. My 5th Porsche, this is my first water-cooled and "transaxle" (all Porsches are transaxle) Porsche. Fantastic car! I love it. I also currently have:

1974 Porsche 914 2.0 LE Can Am Limited Edition "Creamsicle"

1988 Porsche 3.2 G50 911 Carrera coupe

Greetings, all!

Porsche referred to these cars (924,928,944,968) as the transaxle cars, referring to the front engine/rear transmission yielding the 50/50 weight distribution layout. Technically, this is incorrect as all cars have transaxles.

A trans-axle is the combination of a transmission and differential .  Most rear drive cars have a transmission in the front and a differential in the rear.

I'm trying to upload my member image pic, but for some reason it's not working. So here's me with my car.

It was one of the 12 cars on the center "Special Display" at Werks Reunion Amelia Island this year. Other transaxle cars on the display were a beautiful 928 and a 924 Carrera GT.

Welcome to the Forum...a really valuable source for a 968 owner.  I too have a 94 968 and an 88 G-50 3.2.   Fun toys for the garage!
