New to the 968
#1

Hello,

I purchased a 1994 polar blue cabriolet back in February of this year and got busy with life. I have owned a 1988 924S (special edition) and also currently own 2 1986 944 turbos (one fully working and one that needs the exhaust valves replaced due to timing belt failure). I do almost all the maintenance on my Porsches.

I look forward to participating. I am working on changing the cam chain tensioner pads. I got the valve cover off last night and the pads, chain and cam teeth all look great. My car has 80k miles on it. So while the pads look good, they do have wear and have darkened. Given the age of the the car and that I am in the midst of changing the timing belt, I am going to change the pads and not have to be concerned in the future.

The bottom of the pads typically wear at 2 X the rate of the tops .  No idea why that happens ( seems illogical to me ) , but it’s well  documented  that it does..
