Hello from a new 968 Forums member in Maverick Region
#1

Hello,

Carey Spreen here, proud owner of a Grand Prix White 1995 968 coupe. I live in Grand Prairie, TX and have been a PCA member since 1979. I also currently own a Guards Red 1982 911SC coupe, a GT Silver 2004 Boxster S 550 Edition, and a Meteor Gray 2008 base Cayenne. My partner previously owned a 1987 924S, which unfortunately had been "rode hard and put up wet" before she got hold of it, but it piqued our interest in the transaxle cars. After searching for several months, we found this coupe, and look forward to some fun drives in it.

It currently has 17" 996 wheels on it, which I plan to remedy soon. My understanding is that the '94 and '95 models came with the 17" Cup 2 wheels, but I'm partial to the Cup 1s, and am looking for a used set in the correct sizes (7.5x17 ET65 and 9x17 ET55) but would consider the Cup 2s and even a nice set of the base 16" wheels.

Welcome,

Sounds like you've had quite a stable.

You might have to break the piggy bank for correct 17" wheels, they were always "optional", and not standard on '94/'95. I bought 17" 993 cups (7") and am perfectly happy with the fit.

Enjoy the site,

Jay

As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...or something like that.

These look good, but best not to go over 18" because haven't seen any larger ones that are run on the street that aren't bent. And the chrome ones seem to hold up well & you can get real Porsche center caps that fit. In addition, make sure to get the correct offset.

I have had 16s, 17s, and also drove a 968 with 18s.    I found 17s to be the perfect size for the 968, giving it an ideal ride.   Aesthetically they are also more suitable to the car than the 16s, IMO.

I like the 18s we run and we might have gone with the 19s, except on the streets here they wouldn't last long before a pothole or something destroyed them.

Hello and welcome. I'm new here at 968 Forums too!

I'm not very familiar with Cup 1 vs. Cup 2 wheels, but now I have some homework to learn about them.
