Hello from Atlanta where before COVID was Hotlanta. I built a 16v turbo 968 named Angela and came upon this forum from a google search looking for info on the K & L Line for diags. I used a stand alone EMS (Infinity series 7) and think I need to do something about my airbag/abs lights that remain on since the install. Looking for more info on their function no that I have the time to dive into it more thanks again to covid.

I'll create a thread with pics as I have thousands on this build. Some highlights

Coil on plug

Custom Intake

Custom full 3" exhaust all V bands from turbo from headers (4to1) to tail pipe.

Drive by wire using the 82mm Bosch motorsports TB

MAP/MAF set up

Variocam

Traction Control

Launch Control

Android Pie9 double din touch screen

and more....(I dont get out much)

Welcome,

Obviously turbos get a lot of attention. It takes about 5 posts before you have full rights to post pictures, etc. Can't wait to see your build.

Regards,

Jay

Such a kind of upgrade is something I like.

Thanks, as soon as I can post pics you can see the cam cover I printed up for the 4 channel igniter for the pencil coils.

Actually I think the posts from unknown4u are the reason I joined the forum!

Jay,

is the 5 posts rule just for people who own Turbo 968s?   Smile  *hint* *hint*

I'll get some up as soon as I can, just tried to add some to the garage and still no permission yet. I think I figured out my K/L line issue that as triggering the airbag/abs/alarm ecus to fight over diagnostic transmission. Just going to test out the theory today. Also I use the an addition oil temp sensor in place of the turbo coolant temp sensor to activate the turbo coolant pump based on coolant temp running through it. Have to finish the relay connections. Staying at home during this pandemic may as ell make the best of it!

Okay, so in the spirit of bumping this along in order to permit photos ... Why Angela?

Don't laugh, I like Angela Merkel and all my cars get German names....

Angela: '94 Porsche 968

Gretta: '08 E60 M5

Gretchen: '15 550i

Zelma: '11 135i converted to 1M

Now that's funny.  :-)

Welcome - tons of knowledge here, but from your build I suspect you'll be sharing as much knowledge as you'll be getting from the forum.

Thanks! But truth be told a lot of inspiration comes from reading the experiences of others and I kind of stumble onto solutions. Doing this project and the others taught me to paint (E60 I put in a ditch ...2 times), tig (968 exhaust and intake) and frankly German engineering seems to make sense to me and I kinda like it.

German engineering .... yep, style and functionality...... and I think you are now good to go with posting photos on other threads.

Loved the quip about learning to paint!

Good luck with it all!

I bought a tent 10'x10', taped the entrance to the back door of the house because it as under the deck, used fans to create a negative pressure difference and painted pieces individually and then did the body inside the garage by removing the bottom section of the garage door and sealing using 3 fans. That as the M5. The first drive after finishing (took a year because I had to replace the tail section, 1/3 of the trunk floor and the drivers rear quarter panel first. I never did body repair before and just used the factory repair procedure.

The first drive of the car, I had a job in Miami, on the road hit a puddle in a monsoon and ended up in a ditch. Another year later I had fixed that second accident. If I had no bad luck I'd have no luck at all!

Sorry my 'double u' key is not operational so I may sound strange trying to avoid phrases needed a 'double u'

I have been ripped off so many times by vendors that I only do my repairs/mods no matter the time required. Also helps me conquer the fear of thinking...I could never do that. jump off the cliff and then think about fashioning a parachute

Welcome ! Just curious about the turbo unit itself ; is it from Powehaus, or a different brand / builder ? I ask because Powerhaus used to cater quite a bit to both the 944 and 968 demographic . One of our local 968 members , a long , long, long time ago had his 968 fitted and tuned with a Powerhouse unit which produced something around 450 + HP. I remember he said that although it was a blast to drive, it required a lot of care, and it spent more time in the garage and shop than on the road ..he eventually sold it, buf wondering if yours requires constant attention, or runs pretty much as if it was a factory set up ..

I had originally talked with powerhaus about their kit, I think they were dishing factory pistons at the time. I used a gt35r turbo and the 944 turbo engine mount. I drilled out the oil rerun hole and used a mount that had a 1/2 inch tube with grooves for o-rings and inserted into oil return in the mount which fit beautifully.
Oil rerun = oil return ... sorrySmile

Since I do not track the car I cant say it requires a lot of attention. I spend more time with the setup as I did tune to one manifold that really did not fit the throttle I chose so going from full throttle to idle caused my afr ratio to just destabilize. The width of the throttle was wider than the manifold and the runners were just too short.

The new manifold requires me to retune obviously and I now understand a bit more than I did when I first did the tune so some rewiring I have to do is just as a result of learning as I go. I also wanted to keep every feature of the original car so tank vent valve etc was all retained. Even those outputs have to be programmed.

I am in awe of anyone with that kind of technical know-how and mechanical capability to make things happen . Nicely done !

Quick question, if I wanted to start a thread on the build which forum topic should I start it under? I have 5000+ pics of the work over the years grouped by intake, engine, transmission, body, interior, and all data sheets of parts etc.

Some questions are hard to answer without writing a book as to why what when where etc. Im suffering from info overload.

Also I am not mentioning any names but a lot of what I ended up doing resulted from bad experiences with vendors we all know and I dont want to flame on anyone, suffice to say in my experience I found it to be more cost effective to just try and fail and try and fail and try and succeed myself as opposed to trying to buy my way to a finish product.

Example-> I bought an entire exhaust system cause the thought of building my own was a pipe dream so I thought. I spent 2500.00 on a system that did not fit well at all and ended up spending 400 in stainless steel, buying a welder for 1800 and building what I wanted and either selling the bought parts or cutting them up to use for maybe a bend or two.
I am here to say that I thought the same and I am here to tell all of you yes you can!!!!!!!! And in the end the vail of mystery and doubt gets lifted plus you end up with cool tools!

I'd say break it up by subject area - most of it under "Rev it up" since that's where modifications go, and yours appears pretty heavily modified. :-)

For example:
...etc.   Given the volume of stuff it sounds like you've done for modifications, you'll need a bunch of different threads anyhow, and this way breaks it up into the appropriate subject areas.
