Just signed up for the Forum. I drive a 1987 944 turbo but have been looking at 968s lately. There was a really nice 1994 black on black 968 with only 50k on it for $12,750 in Dallas on ebay that I passed up.

Monday night I went down to LaGrange with my brother to look at a 1992 white on black 968 with 103k for $7000. The car had been smoked in pretty bad and was leaking coolant so we passed

Saw a red 1992 (vin ended in 086) with 173k for sale on Buford Hwy in Atlanta for $7995 from a deal last night. Paint looked faded though and the price seemed high for that many miles.

I am sort of tempted to find find a 968 that would be appropriate to put the motor from my 944 turbo into. I already have a TRS wing.

There are a few things to keep in mind with the earlier models. There were a few improvements made in mid 93.

Is your 951 stock? If so, drive the 68 in its stock form and you may be pleasantly surprised. I ran WOT with my buddy's 951 and he was amazed that I was able to stay with him. His car also had some mods and mine was stock.

I now have the chip and airbox done and the car is obviously quicker then before. The potential however for the turbo is much greater then what you'll get from the 3.0NA. SO if you want big HP that makes sense.

What were the changes made in 1993? Should all 968s have the engine bay glovebox down by the airbox and the plastic trim in front of the firewall?

My 951 has some work done to it. - Last dyno was 293hp at the wheels - probably around 330 at the crank. I have a other stuff I would probably move over too like M030 spindles and big reds and M030 suspension with 968 M030 sways.

What's up Josh! Looking into the 968 world are we? Nothing prettier with a front engine layout. I'm biased though.

Was that you who posted on craigslist for $1 for that 968 in La Grange with the writeup? Too funny! Also, was that red 968 a tip? If so, I think I know the owner.

Come on over!

Josh, only 1992 models had the front engine trim with the glove box, they cut that out for the rest of the run.

Josh,

There are a number of substantive changes from '92 to later model years...the list is too long to publish here.

Keep looking and learning, this place is a great resource.

Do your homework and you will find the perfect 968!

slight clarification

while the 92 was the only year to have the "hands" on the flip up door of the front engine plastic trim, the plastic trim continued through early 94, but without the "hands" on the door

Really? I didn't realize that trim was on 93-94s. I guess it just gets 'lost' frequently.
