Not from the photo's or listings on the Internet, unless the listing person adds it. If you get the VIN number and call Porsche Cars Australia, they will tell you from the VIN number where the car was delivered to. Look for the original manuals, books, service records, etc. hopefully a reputable Porsche mechanic knows the car and its history and will vouch for it, or be honest to you.

Also, talk to the local Porsche club. Some of the members have been there since Noah played AFL, so they know of most cars, who has owned them, etc. if not, then it is just another reason to be careful.

944's here are worse, as you can import a pre-1989 car and convert to to RH Drive. It is not until post 1989 cars that the import restrictions kick in.

Sorry, but when you call Porsche, also have the engine number and they will tell you if it is the matching engine number.

Hi and welcome

I think you'll find that the UK imports will have the main speedometer markings in MPH, with the km/H markings secondary, inside the circle of the MPH markings. The odometer will also be in miles - something that can cause confusion if the speedo face has been changed to km/H. As Craig said, a peek underneath will differentiate most UK imports, as the nuts, bolts, exhaust and alloy castings will have a layer of corrosion. Because of the Oz import rules as mentioned by Craig, any 968s brought into Australia will be personal imports and as such would be much less common than pre-1989 944s or 911s.

Regards

Rob

Maybe you guys in Australia can get Mighty Car Mods to do some episodes on Porsches!
