Yeah it's alot of work (not done yet <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> ) but it will be worth it when I'm done. I just wish the PO would have cleaned them once in awhile. All it really takes is an extra 15min and a wheel brush at wash time to keep them shiny.
As for the cleaners; I like organic based cleaners, they work good and not to harsh on the hands(or the enviroment). I tried using petrol but all that did was take the fresh dust off and carb cleaner just scared me (I like the paint were it is <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )
I will be sure to put something on them when I'm done (wax,rejex) and clean them often, (plus after all this work, no way they will ever look like this again <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )
I don't think a concours tread is such a bad idea, I checked all the forums for info about cleaning rims (after the petrol had little affect) and the ones that had a concours tread were easy to find what I needed for this and other detailing jobs.
