Hmmm. I'm sad to here San Diego was that bad. My parents went for 2 days and didn't like it either.
I did like Portland in '06, but it was my very first one.

Hey, everyone. It's almost Parade time. Gene, sorry I didn't respond previously but I'd be pleased to help arrange a 968 get together.
I'm attending the following events:
Sunday, June 29 -- Welcome Party
Monday, June 30 -- Gimmick Rally
Tuesday, July 1 -- TSD Rally
Tuesday, July 1 -- Nacho & Margarita Party
Thursday, July 3 -- Porsche Victory Banquet
To further complicate my participation in a 968 event, I'm committed to a non-Porsche event on Wednesday night.
Which attendees will be in Charlotte and would like to get meet on Sunday or Monday evening/night for dinner and drinks. Also, we should meet at some of the other events. The Margarita Party is a must.

I am coming down on Sunday for the concours only. This year non-attendees can get in to the goody store on Sunday with a PCA membership card.

Got the car washed and a quick wax so the car should be good enough for tommorow. I will be at the Parade tommorow morning. I should have ordered a 968 forums t-shirt or something in case I run into certain people from NJ.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/happy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I drove Monday and Tuesday in the two rallies. They were my first official rallies.
The Gadget Rally was cool. It was well organized, had great directions and took us on a half-day drive through some beautiful Carolina countryside. Even though I live here, this was new territory to me. A good time was had by all.
The TSD Rally yesterday was a different story. It was well attended and well organized and the countryside was once again beautiful with great roads and scenery. That's where the similarity ended. I've already admitted to being a beginner but this sucker was brutal. The directions had almost everyone lost part of the time and about half of the participants gave up and dropped out before the finish. I think we made it about half way through the course before deciding our time was better spent having a nice lunch and a beer somewhere. We did.
The TSD Rally was not a fun thing and I hope it didn't leave a bad impression of the Carolinas in the minds of our guests.
I've seen a few 968s around but with the exception of a couple from NY not any of the drivers. I didn't see any of the regaulars.

I did the TSD rally also, but as a Navigator. It is a tough rally if you have never done it before, which I hadn't. We were in the most basic class which is basically just the instructions and a stop watch. We had probably 4 or 5 u-turns but I think we did ok for a beginner. Haven't seen the results yet.
I'm headed to the Auto-X today as a spectator, if you see a black cab around that's me.

Attended the concours on Sunday. Wonderful! The weather could not have been better - mid 80's with a nice breeze and lots of shade downtown.
Three 968s were entered - all in preparation class I think.

Two were in prep class the two coupes, and the red cab was in a different class. The cab person was a bit more serious about the whole thing. One of the coupes in the concours was a friend of mine from my region, he took second because the other guy drove further. It was his first time doing a concours and missed a few places to clean, one of the stuck up judges got his finger dirty on his car and got all pissed about it and made it a point to walk over to my friend and show him his dirty finger. He later learned he should have been in preservation class which there were no 968's in, so he would have won.

Met your buddy with the Amazon Green car. Nice guy. I was jealous of his factory headlight washers!
Actually the 968 is not old enough for Preservation. A friend wanted to put his 91 928 in Preservation and got bumped to Preparation. Luckily he won his class anyway.
