Mystery code.
#1

Today I found this barely visible code stamped into the area right below the lid trunk. The car is a Cabriolet. Can anyone explain this. It reads V-67X0-1205-CXXX.

In the attached photos you will see the area.

looks like the manufacturers casting number or similar,

as none of the plastic bits are made by Porsche

Plastic bits??... Its stamped into the metal. I am guessing it might be related to the conversion from coupe to cabriolet. That was done in Germany by an American company The American Sunroof Company (ASC) originally based in LA.

As you already knew the answer, why ask the question?

It was hard to tell exactly what part that was from the photo

I do not know if that is the answer. Pure guess work. it might be related to something totally different.

Looks like we all have the same numbers?

By coincidence I too noticed this stamp last week. My cover became trapped I the boot corner and as I lent around to release it light reflected off this code. Yes it is the same one except my "C" is badly formed; it is missing the top curve so I was wondering what it was. So your photos have cleared up the letter, now we just need a definitive role.
