My 968
#1

I wanted to introduce myself and my car to you guys. My name is Dino, i'm from New York City. My car is a 1995 968 Coupe.

Aside from the modifications, i did a lot of maintnance to get the car up to par while the engine was apart. PS pump, all Belts, Cam Chain, tensioners, front engine seals, rear seals, full tune-up, water pump, suspension bushings, swapped the old foggy fog lights for new ones, new rod bearings, main bearings, head set, block set.

These are the modifications that have been done thus far....

Exterior

-AIR 968 Turbo S Front Splitter

-Euro Spec Front Turn Signals (Bumperette Delete).

-18" 993 Turbo Hollow Spoke Technology Wheels (re-finished in Paint Code: VOL932-Volvo 850 R Anthracite). 225.40 18/285 30 18 Michelin pilot sport tires.

-AIR 968 Turbo S Adjustable Rear Spoiler (Carbon Fiber).

Drivetrain

-PowerHaus 12.5LBS Billet Flywheel (OEM Flywheel: 30LBS).

-Head Rebuilt by PowerHaus: has been Ported/Polished, O-Ringed, 3-Angle Valve Job, Milled to 11.6:1 C.R. up from 11.0:1, High performance valve springs(good for 8000RPM), new retainers.

-PowerHaus Stainless Steel Head Gasket.

-Custom Ram-Air Intake System (9 Magazine).

-RS Barn Stage 2 Chip (Re-Mapped: 7700RPM Rev-Limit up from 6700RPM).

-Stuttgart Shift Block.

-RS Barn Equal Length 4-into-1 Header.

-RS Barn High Flo Cat.

-RS Barn Cat-Back with Reverse Flow Muffler.

Suspension

-Koni Adjustable Yellow Shocks & Struts.

-H&R Springs (1" drop up front)

-Factory Rear-Ride Height Adjustment (3/4" drop in the rear).

-KLA Strut Tower Brace.

-RS Barn (Flash) Chassis Brace.

-Custom Alignment (Corner Balanced with me in the car).

Future modifications

-RS Barn Camshafts

-Dyno-tune & Re-map with RS Barn Software

-RS Barn 968 Sway Bars

-993 Big Red calipers, pads & discs up front. SS brake lines

-MO30 968 Discs in the rear with ferodo brake pads

-LHP ITB's

The Car is in the shop currently, i was rear-ended several months ago and have been lazy to take her in. The damage wasnt bad as it was a light hit, but hard enough to crack the corner of my bumper. None of the panels were touched. So i'm getting a new bumper installed as well as the new Rear spoiler clear coated & my header/exhaust/chassis brace installed. I'm also refinishing the front splitter as it has a bunch of stones chips & scrapes on it from being so low. I will be back to update this thread with Pictures of my car once i get it out the shop and do a photo shoot.

If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to ask. Here are a couple pictures of the car prior to the photoshoot i will do with my new spoiler & exhaust.

Very nice! ;-] I love the color of that car. Is the interior linen? I am still building mine which is in limbo until it's transmission returns. ;-)

The interior is leather. I would love to get my hands on light grey sport seats with the fabric inserts (with Porsche script). I know of one car that has them....and i keep bugging the owner to sell them to me.....so far no luck. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I've owned my 968 since october of 2005....

My wheels are 18X8 52MM & 18X10 65MM. 225/40 18 & 285/30 18 Rubber. Zero rubbing issues before & after suspension (lowering). The car was originally equiped with 17" Cup Wheels.

There are 3 different 18" Technology 1 hollow-spoke wheels (2 different rear sizes, i don know why).

8X18-52MM (225/40 18) Part #: 993.362.136.00-Front (19.95LBS)

10X18-40MM (285/30 18) Part #: 993.362.140.00-Rear (25.13LBS)

10X18-65MM (285/30 18) Part #: 993.362.140.01-Rear (23.36LBS)

Thank you for the compliment. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I think the difference in the rears is for narrow vs. wide body cars

Welcome to the best forum around, Dino! Great car, nice mods....as flash says, a nice start! The wheels look great. And that does look like a linen gray interior...does it have the deviating classic grey with it? (that's what my Baby has)

That makes sense, and i thought of that. However...they are listed as Turbo wheels, and were standard on the Wide body C2S/C4S/Turbo cars. Perhaps an option on the narrow body cars.

Kathy, Thank you. I joined 968.Net a long time ago, and this forum over a year ago as well. I just havnt been posting as i've been very very busy with life.

when he said Linen Gray...i thought he ment literally...Linen seats..lmao....

In any event, They are Light grey, almost an ivory or bone white. The dash, shift boot, steering wheel & tops of the door panels are all dark blue, as are the original floor mats. The seats themselves, lower portion of the door panels & carpet are the light grey. I'll post an interior picture when i get home tonight.

Great list of mods. I'm 99% sure I (and the rest of us) know the answer to this, but did you get the 2200 rpm rattle on decel with the powerhaus single mass flywheel? How bad? And what do you think of the sound with the RS Barn headers and cat back?

From what i've heard via sound clips...my rattle is a little worse then the 18lbs RS Barn Replica motorsport flywheel. occasionally u can hear it upon fire up right before the idle settles. The Turbo S Rear Spoiler, RS Barn header & Exhaust are being installed now. My car is in the shop currently. I will let you know how it sounds once i get it back...hopefully at some point next week.

And i will also post updated pictures.

here is a picture of the interior for those of you wondering.....

I finally installed the Header/Exhaust/RS Barn Stage 2 Chip last night (i had a Promax 7700 in there), as well as the chassis brace.

-The Turbo S rear spoiler was installed last week as well. Wow...what a differance. The rear feels much more planted at triple digit speeds. Prior to the upgrade, it felt a little loose. I have the spoiler adjusted for max downforce, and you can def feel a big differance at high speeds.

-The Chassis Brace stiffened up the front of the car. I am very pleased with that upgrade as well. I could imagine what wonders it must do for a Cab. The differance isnt huge, but def noticable on my coupe....and i already had H&R springs, Koni Yellow Adjustables & a KLA brace.

-As for the Header/Exhaust, a def imrovement in power. I dont mind the sound, i actually like it. There is a resonance at about 3K RPM that i could do without, but aside from that i think it sounds great. As for all the people that compare its sound to a Ferrari....i call BS. Honestly...it sounds exactly like what it is. A high compression 4-cyl with an exhaust system....Very Honda-ish...but deeper due to the discplacement.

I'm going to post some updated pics sometime soon(with my new spoiler & exhaust), possibly tonight
