moving Targa GTS to ireland?
#61

What about the dogs? Is it still as difficult to get pets into the UK as it used to be?

I hope for your sake that they don't tax pets by the pound, that could seriously harm the moving budget.

not at all.  it seems pretty straight forward now.  no quarantines from a number of "safe" countries (the US is one of them).  their shots have to be up to date, and they have to get another round of them upon entry, but that's about it.  the issue will be whether or not the old dog is still with us.  she won't make a plane flight, so we would have to take the QE2 over.  if she is not around, we could fly, but then we have to figure out whether or not to take a direct flight, or have a layover so we could take care of them.  the layover could mean sitting on the tarmac in the heat, if we go over a the time of year we may be.

crazy amount of details in a move like this

the good news about the GTS is that they started making it again, though with the 3 liter twin turbo.  it makes 450hp now though.  that makes me feel a lot better about letting this one go.

so, now i get to put an ad together and sell this one.  somebody is going to get one hell of a car!

How often are you going to get any use out of 450 HP ?! Of course that question also applies pretty much here ( or most anywhere else , nowadays ) . Lost of fun but not sure you'll get the satisfaction of having that under your foot as frequently as you should , particularly when you spend $ 150 K + on a car ..

white car is already on a lot.  X5 is coming back here for a few weeks, and then gone.  i3 will be gone just before we leave (going to put it up on swap-a-lease). clearing out of everything.  selling off everything i don't want to move

lol - i guess so.  it lasted 4 days from the time i dropped it off to when it sold.  probably could have hung on and gotten more money, but it would have been stressful, and i would still have had to carry it on my insurance, and make the payments along the way.

So sad. Now you have to find another car that probably will never compare. Have you considered counseling?

We met up with Bob ( Flash ) and Ayn , on a brief trip they took to California to deal with her aging parents housing and other needs, and they also came up to Monterey for the weekend , so we drove down just to have lunch with them, a very enjoyable meeting. Both are doing very well, and perhaps not surprisingly, glad to see that getting older or even moving to another country hasnt changed Flash one bit ; the man simply cannot leave well enough alone and sit still for a moment, always looking to improve one thing or another even if its just a minor software mod to the new cars there, or, a major construction project redesigning the entire interior of the home they bought which kept him occupied from day one ... the Irish ( who according to him ) seem to be very content with whatever they have just the way it is, must think hes totally nuts ! Little known fact, but the Irish did not use to drink much , before they met Bob.. look at the reputation they have now !

Anyway, he says hello, but just no interest in forum discussions since 968s are history for him.. hes focused compeletely on going full electric for the rest of his life , so ...yeah, I guess he IS beyond help , IMHO.
