Well, I'm trying to move Porsche up on the "ticketed list". I got a photo ticket in the mail last week. 41 in a 30 mph zone. Ironically I noticed that my radar picked up a signal but for some reason I ignored it. I guess that I became blase about my speed as I was going the speed of the traffic. It's been at least 10 years since my last ticket. It does not come with points or reported to my insurance company. My take is that the photo speed traps are just for revenue.

sorry to hear that , bummer! it's also a wake up call for me because I had no idea there were SPEED photo traps, I had thought photo tickets are only for running red lights <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Not in the Wash DC area. DC has a lot of speed cameras and now the suburbs are putting them in place. As I said they just seem to be a revenue gimmick as the real consequence, i.e points and insurance are not affected. I don't have a problem with red light cameras as it more of a dangerous situation but the speed cameras are just for the money. It is interesting that on a recent episode of "Top Gear" there was a race between the bullet train and a Nissan GT-R. The point is that in Japan they have to verify the face of the driver so Jeremy used a mask when he went thru a speed camera. Very funny. Here they only have to show the rear license plate and another picture of the car. One more thing, the company that sells and installs the speed cameras gets a cut of the fine. Hows that for capitalism as it's best.

The top 10 ticketed also seem to be the drivers with their heads the furthest up their backside

If some speed cameras require identifying the driver then having your head up your backside sounds smarter than you might think. You'd pretty much have to admire those drivers both for ingenuity and flexibility.
