Some of those numbers in that story are accurate, and some are not. The spark plug and oil change numbers are a little high, maybe a lot high, based on model of car, but the clutch numbers and belt services are about right. All Ferrari models from the 355 and back (348, 328, 308, 512TR, Testarossa) require engine out for belt service...that's the bulk of the price right there...labor to pull and reinstall the motor. 1100.00 for an oil change on a F355 is insane and that dude needs to find another mechanic. Beginning with the 360 and forward, most regular maintenance can be done with engine in. All of the newer F1 paddle shift transmissions are hard on clutches (Maserati's eat them up quite easily) and are expensive to R & R. Point of the story is made, but a little exhageration goes a long way. Fun read though!
