+1 for the stupid little ball in the fuel rail. Haven't started on the gear lever yet.

I thought you might like it Flash. I tried in vain(!) to keep all the washers on for zero play and tried to get that clip on, so others beware! I'm worse than a chocolate fireplace!

Ball bearing in the fuel rail? I've had mine off several times, and don't remember a ball bearing. The car runs fine and I can't smell any fuel, but should I be worried? Anybody have a picture of the bearing and where it goes?

it sits in the metal cap toward the rear of the fuel rail. that is what forms the seal. yes, you should be worried if it's not there. relying on the threads alone is a very bad idea.

Hmmm... Sorry to sidetrack this thread, but what is the cap for? I never removed it, so if the ball bearing is under it, it should still be there.

Edit: Wait - let me guess - it's to attach a pressure gauge, which the lucky owners of SC's have to do as part of the install. Correct?

Thanks - this thread can now return to is regularly scheduled topic, and I can resume my new-found hobby of imagining problems my 968 doesn't really have...
