Melvivio Says Hi!
#1

Hello people from, I guess all over the world

My name is Melcher, (Melvivio as nick) and I'm a porsche virgin. Never owned one, but sure hope to do so in a month or three from now. I live in The Netherlands, in a small village near Eindhoven, and I am a member of the Dutch porsche forum, whom pointed me in your direction Currently I'm studying automotive engineering, And have mechanical handyness and knowledge . I currently own a Opel /vauxhall vectra v6. Which is nice for hauling stuff, isnt very pleasing to drive.

The car I'm looking into is the 968 model of Porsche. They capture the essence of a sportcar to my likes and budget
I'm sure I will learn a lot af handy tricks and tips here.

Thanks in advance, And I'll catch you on the flip Side!

Well, A month has passed and I've been doing alot of research in the 968 making sure, that as a student I'm capable (money wise) of keeping the car on the road!

I've had my first drive in a 968! and it was fantastic. It had upgrade audio, so with the right tunes it made a very strong impression. I've completly convinced I want one now! I've also visit my first meeting in holland and learned more of the car. So the search for a good model has started. I've decided not to buy the one I drove, because there are more fish in the sea, and want to see what comes along in the next month or so!

I'll keep you guys updated!

Thank you! The car will find a home in a nice warm garage, and I've sorted out my wish and options list!
The colour (very importaint to me) should be Blue or green related. Black is cool too, but not grey, red, or pink for pete sake The coupe model is the one I'me most interested in, because of the luxury combined with sport elements. It should be stick-shifted, and with working airco. Cruisecontrol will be retrofitted, as they are almost not sold with this option. (in europe) Targa roof is a nice extra, not a must though.

As I said, I know how to handle a spanner so dealer (porsche) service-history isn't a must, but the seller should be able to tell me what kind of work there was planned, or what is done to the car the pas two years or so.

To sum up, looking for a good 968, which may come with some work, but not that much to start with. Thinking of finding the right car in germany and importing it to holland

The Dutch members of this forum are very active, and they are enthusiastic to help. If you find a car to your liking, you should ask one of them to join you for an inspection so that you can uncover any problems before your purchase.

Good Luck and welcome,

Jay

Hey Melvivio,

I somehow missed your original post. Welcome!

This forum will be great for your potential car. It is filled with enablers and will simply make your 968 adiction worse.

Johan, ones I own one, I need to get more in touch with you on your engine modifications and such because I'm syked to start modding when the spring finally begins!

Also, I found out that the leather can quite easily be dyed in the colour of preference. So midnight blue with grey, makes a great base colour to dye it white! Since the interior needs to come out anyway for more and better soundproofing, and upgrading the audio

Yep, I got the porsche virus!

Welcome! I guess more Porsche 968 ads will appear as spring is starting in Europe so you will be able to find something nice! I was also thinking of 968 and then a good looking black version appeared in Denmark. As there were not so many black ones available it was a fast choice. You are more lucky to have Germany and mobile.de closer!
