So I am practicing with mike's itouch to see if I want to get a 3gs. Holy crap this thinfg is really hard to type fast and accurate. The correction software works pregu wllel bit it seems likes good software making ip for crappy hardware. I know this is a techy bunch so I tjougt I'd ask opinions. Anyone get good with this of is it a terminal struggle? I thinking about a couple of hard keynoad solutions onstae. I don't rjomk that this Foch NORAD is for me.

Totaliy inedirted tupong by the way. This is the same speed that I use on my bb with good effect.

Thanks for the input.

lol - i don't have anything so urgent that it can't wait until i get to a real keyboard, so i can't help you much there (for that matter, i usually wait until i get to a land line too - hate cell phones - won't use it unless i have to) i even have texting turned off on my phone

that being said, i have found that the new software is better, now that you can turn the thing 90 degrees - it used to only allow typing upright - but, as i said, i've only used it once

I have owned the Iphone 3G now since the week it was launched in the UK, I have no problems with the text input, It does take a while to get the hang of it, but I have found it works better with faster input, and makes less mistakes also.

A year on?, I would give up a kidney, before giving up my Iphone now. LOL sad or what?

Love it! I do 80% of my posts from the iPhone.
It's great for all kinds of things with numerous apps.

The typing can be a pita sometimes, but you'll get the hang of it.

I absolutely love the I-phone, I'm in construction and seem to always work long hrs and to be able to have access to my e-mail all day is amazing and yes typing takes while to get use to but when you do you can type pretty quickly.
2 thumbs up!!!!!

You need to learn to trust the autocorrect function. It gets it right most of the time and you can always go back and correct the occasional error.

+1 on the iPhone. +1 on MAC products in general. And I rely on the iCal function with the phone syncing to my laptop so everyone in my family has a current schedule.

A few of the pics I have posted on this site have been taken with my laptop (MacBook) camera. They are good enough to get the idea, and don't need to be downsized to be posted. Saves time and effort downsizing stuff.

I don't do a lot of texting, but when you turn the iPhone and hold it the long way, the input areas are larger, so I make fewer mistakes hitting the wrong keys on the touch screen. One thing for sure, the things needs to have a back button, so you can just return to the previous screen. Or does it already and I just don't know it?

I particularly love the free Flashlight app, which turns the screen into one bright light. Helps me get around the house at night without tripping over the kids toys and waking everyone up when I launch into a stream of profanity after stepping on a leggo block in bare feet that someone should have put away.

Hey Scott, I did not know about the free flashlight app, but have been using mine for a flashlight anyway. I love the iphone and don't have a problem typing. I had the first Trio and was used to that, but changed easily.

i also went from the treo to the iphone - quite a few adjustments to make - some good some not so much - i like it though, and the ease of synching to my mac makes it all worthwhile

i need to download the flashlight app

I am one of the few in the world that up to now has not needed to buy a new cell phone. Like Gibbs on the TV show, NCIS I use a flip phone. But more and more people do not talk on phones and only text, so I am finally thinking of getting a phone. But at the same time I will need a new radio for the car. So Android ready or Apple ready? Any advice? which model?

since I have dyslexia and never could spell half the time with my iPad I do not see the typos anyway even with autocorrect turned on. lol

Then I'll be the last one with a flip phone if you go to the dark side.

But flip phones give you that Star Trek nostalgia every time you use them..

I was perfectly happy with my flip phone until I got my 968. I put a new radio in that had blutooth, but it didn't work right with the flip phone, so I had to get a "smart phone". I don't text, (I refuse to be assimilated by the Borg - speaking of Star Trek), but I needed the hands-free option in the car. When my Android started having problems recently, I bought my first iPhone, the 6SE. It's much smaller than the typical smart phone - some of those are getting almost as big as my iPad! So far it's a great phone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, you know, from before they had the "lighter app"...I have had no reason to upgrade. Prior to that was my last Blackberry, which Melva is still using.

When a smart phone lets me toss it all around without problems and I can speed dial by pushing one key, then maybe I'll join the 21st century.  Hands free? I use an earbud with a real jack plug! And get off my lawn!
