In search of my long lost love!
#1

Hey,

New to this forum but not to the 968. I used to own a very rare 1993 Wimbledon Green/Grey Leather 6 speed...but I sold it back in 1999. I believe it is in upstate NY now. I'm hoping to locate that one or get a beautiful replacement some day. In the mean time, I am fortunate enough to have an all original 1988 944 Turbo S in the Silver Rose and Plaid interior...and I will not make the mistake (again) of parting with that one.

I was hoping MidnightBlue968 from Oregon would sell me his! Love that color!

Anyway, I'm in the Baltimore area and hope to get to Hershey in April. I'll be roaming the "for sale" section!

Welcome. Hope to see you at Hershey. Make sure you go to the area where all of the 968's park!

Hello Matt, I'm in Baltimore also. There are quite a few 968/944 in the area, I haven't seen yours yet though. Good luck with the search for your old 968!

Thanks. Maybe I'll see some of you at Hershey. Now if only spring will come so I can get the car out of hibernation!

The last Wimbledon Green cab with Gray interior that I saw was at Hershey in 2007. It had NJ plates on it at the time and about 65K miles. Look in the photo gallery under events "Hershey 2007".

The car had a Design 1 Racing Chasis Brace (looks like a roll bar)...so maybe Flash can tell you who he sold it to....

It would be very cool to reunite with your old ride.

Welcome. If you've got the VIN for your old flame there's someone here who likely has it in his registry.

I do have the VIN and I got some info from Jeff. Based on the latest carfax it's still owned by the person I sold it to...of course, I can't remember his name or address.

And just to clarify, it was a coupe not a cabriolet.

Oh, and to add a little bit more to thus soap opera, I sold it to get married...anyone want to guess how that ended?!?!

Lesson learned!

Matt, if you're interested there will be a large gathering of exotic and classic cars at the Hunt Valley Town Center this Saturday morning from 8-10. Near Wegmans grocery by the old Best Buy. There are always very interesting cars there, last week a few Mclarens, GT3 RS 4.0, classic Porsches and many others.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a schedule of these events?

I was going to the PCA event about detailing and it starts at 9:30am so I don't know if I can do both.

Matt, the "1988 944 Turbo S in the Silver Rose and Plaid interior." is a nice car to hang onto!

But I also feel the same way as you about the 968. Mine is silver coupe with classic grey interior and the tiptronic. If I ever had to replace it I would want the exact same combination.

Truth be told, I love the styling of the 968 (and the 928) better than the 944 series. And the light grey interior is very nice too...don't sell it... trust me. The 968/928 is timeless in my opinion. I'm sure people that don't know your car think it is much newer than a 1993!

I was looking at a Tiptronic, but all I ever had was manual transmissions, so I am a little hesitant...not sure if it will feel like the same "driving experience." Suppose I should drive one first.

It's every Saturday morning from 8-10. Today was an abnormally large event, probably 600-800 cars. Ferraris, Lambos, Corvettes, 911's were dime a dozen. There was only one 968.
