Hello from East Tennessee. I love the 968
#1

Hey 968'ers. Is there a term for us? I'm new here.

I remember seeing the 968 around a few times as a kid. I loved the lines, especially the rear. They always made me look. Still do. These days it's even less common, which I think is cool. I like to be different.

I'm on the search for a 968 coupe and found this forum while reading up on everything I need to know before buying. I currently daily drive an e46 M3, but will sell it to get a 968 and add something else for every day.

I've been a member of several auto enthusiast forums. I'm excited to find a car and become part of another community here.

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm getting excited. Don't think I've ever wanted a car so badly. So rare, though! It's proving to be a harder search than I anticipated.

That's part of the charm, take your time and by the best example you can afford. General guidance is that a well sorted 968 will cost you $25k, pay me now or pay me later...

Start your search. You are not too far away from the 968 "hot spots". Took me 3 years to find one out here on the west coast.

Interesting. I wasn't aware there are hot spots. Where are they? I'll be looking everywhere, but I'm interested to know what makes some places better for buyers than others.

Edit: The one you linked to is interesting. Thanks.

It seems like the East Coast is where the majority of the 968's landed. Not sure the cars are better, but there are more of them. I think your search should start there.

Check out the other 968 site as well.

Jeff might give you some leads.

Welcome and good luck with your search. Jay is right, either pay for a good one or buy a not so good one and spend the same making it good. Depends on how you want to approach it. Use the PPI on this site as a guide.

I agree with az968 I got a not so good one and had to spend some money on it. I had valve job done replace all seal and gasket new belts and some other stuff to long to list lol. I love the part when I'm working on it I know it will last me for a long long time.

I was lucky cause I bought it from a friend that has 2 968 and was helping me rebuild it.
