Lost Code Cards for OEM Radio
#1

Has anyone gone to a Porsche dealership and found them able (and hopefully willing) to confirm the radio security code having the car and radio chassis number?

I called the original dealership for my car purchased on Oklahoma and the service manager wasn't exactly thrilled to be having any conversation with me about the car although he did break down (and I could feel the pain in his response) of telling me that my car had a new windshield and a few oil services. Tomorrow I am going to try to go to a local Illinois dealer and try my luck.

What Porsche database does the dealer have to access to get that data - hopefully the database is open on Saturdays.

You could try asking this guy. He has helped lots of people with radio codes.

The originating dealership should by all means have the code in their system. If you have your maintnance journal, i'd call all the dealers that worked on the car and speak with a service writer.

Thanks guys.

The original Porsche selling dealership person whom I spoke to yesterday in Oklahoma City was, to say the least, less than helpful and started cop an attitude.
I work with people all the time and didn't come off arrogant in the least.

Today I went to the local dealership and unfortuneately the service person who was on duty indicated that only 2 people have access to that system and of course neither one was working Saturday morning. Happily, he took the VIN number and SN of the radio and gave me his biz card and indicated he would followup with one of the authorized guys on Monday so I don't have to make another trip.

WE had a customer who lost his radio code and called a dealer and gave him the VIN and he gave us his radio code. Of course we do business with them for parts, so that may made a difference.

My local CAR Toys was able to get the code for my radio that i am selling in the garage. It is a Porsche CDR 220 witha cd player built in but ng on a 968, OK on a 911 or Boxter.
