Another "WILL THEY FIT?" thread...with added "WHAT WHEEL IS THIS?" content!

I purchased a set of wheels on ebay (impulse buy, I was upset about being outbid on another set...) and am trying to find out more information on them and if I'll be able to run them without a spacer.

The seller wasn't able to respond to my email before the auction closed so I don't even know if these are OEM porsche wheels from a different car or just aftermarket wheels with Porsche centercaps.

Anyway, here is what info I DO have on them:

-Bolt pattern: 5x130

-Front Wheels: 17x8, 47mm offset, 6.5" Backspace

-Rear Wheels: 17x9.5, 52mm offset, 7 " Backspace

-Tires: Front 205/50/ZR17, Rear 255/40/ZR17

For reference, I am running the 17" twists right now with no clearance issues. I believe they are 17x8 up front and 17x8.5 in the rear, not positive of the offset..perhaps someone here knows offhand or I can check the wheels in the morning. Here's a picture of how the wheels sit with my suspension:

They'll be here soon enough, but I can't wait and want to know if they'll likely fit without the need for a spacer....thanks!

That was me you were bidding against on both sets. Looks like you got a great deal. Those tires look brand new.

Those tires are definately on the narrow side for those rims. As is with the narrow tires, they should fit on your car fine.

The rear offset is pretty much perfect (esp w/ a 265/275 tire), but the front rims will be a tad close to the outer fender.

You will be able to get away with a 225 tire which would be the smallest I would put on an 8" rim without any interference. I would not try a 235, it will rub.

Ha! You got the set I was really after then!! those two piece twist wheels look incredible, I'm actually glad they went to you so that I can drool over the pictures you will post whenever you get those bad boys on I may be delusional here, but for the closing price I think you got a pretty great deal on those wheels as well...I've seen sets go for a lot more than that! I wasn't really expecting or hoping to win those, but I always have to put in a bid for good measure

Thanks for the comments guys, I cannot WAIT to get these wheels on the car....perhaps we should post our pics in the same thread when we get our wheels on smokiemon?

oops forgot to ask...any idea what car these wheels came off of originally? they don't look aftermarket, but then again I can't think of any p-cars that came with these wheels off the top of my head. as long as they're not super soft and they don't weigh like 40lbs per wheel I think I'll be happy either way...just curious!

DM, You got it. $45 more and they would have been yours.

I live near Baltimore, perhaps we could meet up then take some pics?

I just saw that you were in MD! Done and done. A bunch of my good friends live around the UMBC as well as Camden Yards area so I'm in Baltimore a decent amount. I'll be sending you a PM with my contact info when I finally get the wheels on so that we can work this out...also eager to check out your car in person, I love the unique bits under the hood...

What are you doing with the twist set?

If you are selling them let me know wheel condition, tires etc and how much, maybe we can side step e bay.

Thanks

sure thing man! i actually have 2 sets of the twists...one is in pretty rough shape (lots of curbing, one wheel is slightly bent, the whole set sees winter-only use) and one is in great shape but the tires are 3 years old and may be dry rotted. i'll be looking to get rid of both sets at a reasonable price in the near future. i'm going to go to my garage to photograph the set that's sitting in storage so i'll have full pics and details soon. i'll shoot you a pm when i've got the listing all ready to go-

hey, thanks a lot for finding that!

that pic is...interesting. after seeing it, i'm kicking myself even more for not going for 18" as those wheels look pretty tiny in the wells. But then again, with the streets in DC maybe a smaller wheel with more room for play is a better thing

I hope they're not too blingy for me when they arrive!

Probably a better choice for city driving. You will have a little more side wall, but not much.

Give me a call this evening.
