Leather Source
#1

Does anyone have a good source for upholstery leather to repair a sport seat bolster? My local guy is trying to steer me to leather samples that are close to a match, but are really for other makes of cars. 'Almost' works well for horse shoes and hand grenades, but I'd like to have the real thing for my 968.

Thanks.

'Course a Recaro SPG is pretty comfortable on the street too <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Subtracts about 30-40 lbs from the car in the process.

Bob - did you have your seats recovered? If so, completely in leather or just leather 'seating surfaces?' Was this a job in the ability of any good auto upholstery shop? I assume that you used perforated for the seating surfaces and not the back or side bolsters.

And if you don't mind - how much (and then I can subrtact the 300% CA surcharge and determine what it might cost in NC)?

sorry, i have no numbers for you on these, but the going rate for a complete reupholstery of a leather seat here is about $500 each, regardless of the seat

Performance Products has a DIY kit for about 1100.00 but it lists it as standard seat only. If you just have tear in the bolster, you may be able to do a temporary repair...there is a similar thread running concurrently...

wow - hmmm - lol - sounds like maybe i should be acting as a go-between with my upholstery guy - for 1100 plus shipping, i could get them done here, make 100 bucks, and save people the hassle of installing kits

of course, the seats would be out of the car for a couple of weeks

tough call
