Just "fixed" my a/c condensor
#1

I live in the phoenix area and the hot (110) weather motivated me to fix my a/c. Last summer I tried recharging the system and noticed a leak in the a/c condenser. I never looked further into it as the weather was getting cooler, but I decided to give it another try.

I bought a torch to try and braze the hole I thought I saw, but decided that my skills are not that good at aluminum brazing and that there would be too much of chance of totally ruining the condenser.

I then thought I would epoxy the hole, use some a/c sealant, and recharge it. I bought some PC7 epoxy and got to work. I basically slathered a lot of the epoxy around the hole area. I used more than was needed, but what the hell, this probably won't work anyway I thought.

After waiting 24 hours for the stuff to cure, I added the sealent and recharged the system.

So far, so good. The a/c is pumping out cold air and I can's see or smell any leaks!

Obviously, I would not have tried this method if I had the cash to get it fixed or the car was newer, but I'm happy with the results so far.

I have repaired a A/C hard pipe in a 944 with JB Weld with good results never had an issue and that was the high pressure side.

Can you post a picture or 2? I'd love to see the handywork? I consider myself the Rube Goldberg of the West, but it sounds like you may have me with this one

I don't have a pic, but imagine about 10 pieces of bubble gum molded around and squeezed into the leaking area - it was on the driver side where the tubes are not hidden by the cooling fins.

I got the idea from this link http://www.stockcarracing.com/howto/134_04...tech/index.html - mine was not that bad.
