Intro from Kansas City
#1

I'm a Vw mechanic and transmission specialist, and I have a couple customers who have brought me their 968.  I was researching "stuff" and found that this forum is the go to place for tech info on 968, so I joined up.  I hope it'll turn out to be a good resource but I can also offer some info on transmissions as well.

Hi Richard,

You've come to the right place for all things 968, lots of stored data and live resources.

968s have been known to have a pinion bearing issue, factory pre-load was too high and cars pinion bearing either failed, or they didn't. Most have been sorted out at this point, but still pop up now and then.

Welcome,

Jay

Welcome. Is it time to get a 968?

I have a 914 which is a running driving car (very nice -- no rust), but it just sits.  When I'm feeling midlife crisis or taking my wife on a date I drive my Audi TT convertable.

Don't see a lot of 914s around here.  1.7, 1.8 or 2.0? Welcome.

914 - 6 by any chance ? My former neighbor who was a classic car wholesaler and had two 968s , also had a 914-6 cyl and he was convinced he could get a small fortune for it ..much more than his 968s ..

I think it might be best to remove what I wrote, and instead...

Welcome Richard, it would be cool to have someone around who learns the 968 transmission.
