Hi Guys:
I'm trying to find key codes for my 92 coupe. Nothing on any of the three keys that I have and the only thing that I can find in the owners manuals is a series of four handwritten numbers - 6763.
Can somebody tell me what the key code looks like - is it numbers or numbers and letters or what?
Does the number series that I found look like the key code for my vehicle? HELP!!!
Thanks,
Carl

I believe you need to provide your VIN# to a Porsche dealer (As I understand it, you must show proof of ownership), and they will provide the information to you.

Yes I know that but it is not that simple without the code.
I've investigated that process and I can prove ownership but as you might imagine it is quite expensive when dealing with Porsche.
What I'm trying to do is have someone tell me what the code looks like? Is it a series of numbers or numbers and letters or what combination?
I don't want your code just tell me what the code looks like.
Thanks guys

The code will be stamped on the key, or on a tag which is supplied when the car was originally sold or possibly stamped or written into the owners manual when the car was originally purchased from the issuing dealer. I'm just trying to find out what the format is .....numbers, letters and numbers or something else.
This is something you will want to know for your vehicle when you might break a key or loose a key and want a new one cutby the dealer.

Checked my keys and even looked inside the plastic cover, no code. According to the owner's manual, the number was supplied with the keys but was to be stored outside of the car. The manual also indicates the number is stamped on the head of the key. The only part of the key I cannot see is the part that goes into the plastic head. Not sure how or if I want to remove that.

Thank you, thank you, tamathumper that is exactly what I'm looking for. It' s not what I have but it does clear things up.
Also, yes there is a company in the UK (Express Auto keys online) that will cut a new key from a photo and they claim that it will be like a new, fresh key and not like a worn copy of a worn key. Somehow they can project how the key looked originally. Not that expensive so I might try it. They use steel blanks (not Porsche factory key blanks). So my thoughts are to get a fresh key from them and then have it duplicated to a Porsche blank at the dealer. Always have the fresh one to copy from.

Pull one of the door handles and take it to a GODD locksmith, there is a code on the lock mech they use to make new keys.
