seat backs swapable??
#1

Hi chaps

quick question my drivers seat bolster is staring to look a little tired but my passenger seat looks perfect, i had a thought would the passenger seat back section swap with the drivers, the seat back section is manual the bottom section is 4 way adjustable.

just a thought, sure someone else has thought the same or maybe i have too much time on my hands!!

You could flip the tops of the seats but the release knob would be on the wrong side.

I would have to check, but isn't there a release knob on BOTH sides of each seat?

thanks there is a release knob on both sides the only issue i can think of is that the back recliner pull is under the seat and not sure if they are routed the same?

interesting though dont think i am brave enough to just go ahead and do it, will wait for one of you hardcore 968r's to tell me it will work before i take the plunge

I'm pretty sure you can irrelevant of manual, power, etc. The seat back is just held by the hinges and all motors and mechanisms are built into the base and yes, there are knobs on both sides. I'm getting ready to explore this same thing on a set of seats I just picked up. I'll post here when I find something out if no one beats me to it.

Yes, they are capable of being swapped. Pain in the butt, but it can be done.

The previous owner of my car did it, so it can be done, and I would imagine it wasn't too involved judging from his self proclaimed "lack of mechanical skills"

I would say find a leather reconditioner to re-dye the bolster, this will hide the damage, and put down a new layer of protection to keep the leather protected against additional wear.
