I Found it - Collecting Ad's
#1

There was one 968 ad that I did not have (and it was annoying me). So after scouring EBay for some time, there it was up for sale. Now in my possession, I think this is the last 968 ad that I don't have. Most of the other are now in storage until we build our new house, but I think I now have the complete set. One more niggling issue out of the way.

Now to get the two pages joined back up together through photoshop.

It would be good to know if there are any more ad's out there so I can let my OCD tendancies rest. I think from memory this is about the 6th or 7th ad that I have got.

I would love to get my hands on a decent electronic copy of that ad to frame. I have a few Triumph TR6 original ads, but none for my 968.

Is ad collecting a "thing", if you know what I mean? I didn't even know model building was a "thing" until I joined this forum.

Interesting. I'd be more prone to want a poster or two in my garage, but the temperature and humidity swings wouldn't be good for them.

Temperature and humidity swing a poster problem? Why? You a new one every month don't you? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Oh, not centerfold, my mistake <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Flash,

Somewhere in my hoard of stuff I have a very small business card sized CD - but I cannot remember the posters being on it. What resolution are these at, because it will be a lot easier than photoshop-ing the real ad to paste it back together.

Lots of "collecting" habits out there. There was a BBC show called the "Collectors" and there is no logic to what people collect. A guy I work with collects "Bundaberg Rum" (an Australian Rum) limited edition bottles. I also collect diecast 1:18 models. All of this does create some friction with the better half, but it keeps me out of the pub.

Craig excuse perhaps a stupid question, but why would you better half not like you collecting models? Expense?

Not that I'd know from experience, but some models can be really expensive to maintain,... Especially the supermodels.

Rap - It all depends on how far the collecting bug has gone. Currently, I have something like 400 odd 1:18 diecast models. As my wife points out - I could have a real car for what that represents, but possibly not as much pleasure - and most have appreciated (unlike cars).

DS968 - As for the poster - the car will also be less maintenance and less tempermental (given that it is a Ferrari that is a big statement). I got a photo one day of a beautiful woman in a bikini draped on a palm tree - at the top it said, "No matter what you may be thinking now", you then scrolled down to the bottom where it finished with, "somewhere, some guy is absolutely fed up with all of her crap". Some models are for pure enjoyment, but are too expensive to own and maintain, but the keeper is the one that is reliable, untempermental and performs flawlessly with a minimum of fuss.

I like the Superbowl ad where a guy is fishing and his girlfriend in dishing him on her mobile at the back of the boat and he finally "ejects" her from the boat. The simple things in life are sometimes the best.

Not sure whether women think the same way - would be an interesting discussion and good to know - but if you were told, would they then have to kill you?

I wake up every morning and am constantly surprised that I managed to find someone who puts up with all of my crap. When my wife got her last car, we discussed getting the personalised plates "PUTNUP" to reflect this.

Flash,

I managed to find my "little" CD. It is titled History Typ 968 Porsche Service. It has five posters, but not the ads on it. Is this the same little CD that you have?

Thanks,

Craig
