I can see!!!
#1

Had my Lasik eye surgery on Friday- driving and seeing very clearly on Saturday!

It is amazing! So far so good- during my follow-up appointment on Saturday, my right eye was 20/20 and the left was 20/25. Procedure was quick, no pain, a little nerve-racking (I'll spare the details!), and worth it!

Wish I had done this sooner.... But I am glad I waited as the technology has improved such that complications are incredibly minimal nowadays.

For those of you who have been thinking about this but have some reservations, take another look. Find a good doctor. For me, I couldn't be any happier with the result!

Excellent news!

You realize that this requires an inordinately expensive pair of sunglasses to complement your new found vision.

Maybe a pair of Serengeti Drivers?

Actually, while the doctor was in there, I had him put in some 3M window tint... No need for sunglasses!!!!!

Yes- the "disposable" pair they provide when you leave the surgery center is, shall we say, NOT cool.

And it does feel incredible. Of course, this means I can now see all the dirt and imperfections on my 968 that much better. Sometimes ignorance is bliss...

My wife needs this surgery but is still on the fence with it. Actually early on she was told that she didnt qualify. Something to the effect of prescription still changing every 2-4 years.

Were you ever told this?

Oh, yeah. congrats on your new eyes.

Yes- I had been informed of the prescription change issue. Fortunately, mine has been quite stable for the last 10 or so years. Over the course of the last 2 months, I've had the ol' peepers poked, prodded, wetted, and looked at quite a few times. They were very thorough and would not have allowed me to get the surgery if I were not a good candidate.

Another thing to consider... If your wife has an ever changing prescription, she will still probably end up needing glasses again at some point, probably quickly. Those of us with less than normal eyesight are forever doomed! I'll probably need reading glasses in 5-10 years. May need full-blown bifocals or the like in probably 10 years. All depends on whether or not the eyes continue to degrade or hold off for a few. Lasik is basically a stop gap which prolongs the inevitable.

I would suggest that she see a few different, reputable doctors and see what they all say.

I'd been contemplating LASIK for a long time, mainly waiting for the technology to become more reliable and reputable - and I made my consult appt a couple weeks back. I go in on the 15th! Really hope I can get it. I am murderous on glasses, and I'm tired of them. And contacts and I never got along, so those are out as an option.

Glad to hear you're happy with the procedure. Makes me all that more anxious to get it done!

Congrats! It is worth it!

For the first few hours, everything is "foggy" - I mean, heck, they blasted your eyeball with a laser!

After about 4-5 hours, I was beginning to see very well. By morning, could see clearly. The dryness is bothersome right after the surgery, and was pretty annoying that night, but the drops definitely help. For some reason, my eyes have recovered extremely quickly so I haven't had to use the lube drops all that much. Today they feel great!

Just make sure you don't touch your eyes and do what they tell you....
