offer made on my car
#21

lol - gotta be fast with the checkbook - when i see something i want, i usually go straight after it, and i NEVER haggle about it - i did that with both of the 968s - gave them full asking price without even a conversation about it - i didn't care - in the end, any savings would have been moot anyway

forgot about speed yellow - great color for these cars, IMO ! I would definitely drive one of them but my better half HATES yellow in cars, so clearly not an option for me.

Oh, I forgot to tell you guys, Randy Leffingwell's book entitled, "Porsche Sixty Years," was published last month with both of my 968s as representatives of our car. The pictures came out amazing I must say. You guys should all buy a copy at Amazon and stick it on your coffee table. Here is a link:

The speed yellow cab (43K miles) I just got was not advertised anywhere.

The PO returned my "long shot" email and said he would be interested in the selling the car.

He had a price and I took a chance and offered him a little less based on some typical things that would need to be done to a new-to-you 968. He was very rational about the whole thing and came back close enough to my offer to make me go look at the car. Now it is in my garage.

If he had not come down on his price, I would have still gone to see it. And, given the condition it was in, I probably would have still sealed the deal.

they pop up in the oddest places too - it can be a long search too - mine went on for 4 months and i finally gave up - while i indeed did find my blue on on ebay (actually ayn did), the white one (immaculate with less than 15k on it) was on a DC craig's list ad with very little description and no pics - that one took less than 2 weeks - but, i would never have found it but for a member here who knew i was looking and sent me the link - thanks josh

so, you have to avail yourself of every search avenue, and when the opportunity comes up, you have to act quickly - these are odd cars, and it's a very small market - if you are buying or selling, there is a good chance that the membership here will be very helpful in the process

Of all places, believe it or not, my unintended search for the yellow cab started on 968.net!

I had remembered seeing a listing of all the 968 attendees to the Hershey swap meets, generated by Don et. al. So, it just so happens that info is still available on 968.net. For the 2003 show, the list included the names of the attendees, from where they were, and, fortunately enough, the color of their car!

As it turns out, the PO of the yellow cab had his email address linked to his name. I sent him an email, he responded a week later.

So, make sure you not only search the standard avenues (Ebay, CL, the still-operating forums, etc.) but also look for other avenues as well. You never know...
That interior is killer! Looks similar to my cobalt/lt gray interior except the carpet in mine is light gray, which I can't stand. If, and I do mean if, I ever decide to really keep this car forever, I would put the cobalt carpet in the car. I actually think there is no cobalt carpet only dark blue like my floormats. Anyone know about this? I know there are some cobalt cabs and coupes out there with blue interiors.
Yes, there are cobalt carpets out there. They offered a full cobalt interior on the 968 in 92 and 93 but it is very rare. Pretty wild, Kim on this site has it in his cab, interior code TV with partial leather. You would have to do the bottom of the door panels as well.

Dan you were right to say no. Nothing less than $40K for sure. You gotta factor in the love factor - how much time and money is it going to take to get another car as interesting?
