Hey from Saskatoon Canada
#1

Hey. I'm the brand-new owner of a 1993 black^3 968 Cabriolet in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Nothing but rain since I finished the deal, but I still found excuses to drive it around for a couple of hours or so. Looking forward to fun in the sun.

Trying to figure out how to get "Running back to Saskatoon" into this welcome but I got nothin'

Cheers.

Thanks for the welcome.

Dave, according to the previous owner there is one other 968 in Saskatoon (a coupe), and a cabrio in a small town about an hour away, both one owner vehicles.

A little bit about my car: I purchased it locally. It's a US-spec machine imported from Michigan to Canada by the previous owner a few years back. 77,000 miles, everything stock but the radio and possibly the top. PO recently did timing belt, water pump, belts, etc. New brakes, new tires on refinished 16" wheels. As far as I can tell everything works except for a faulty washer fluid sensor.

I'll need to get used to the speedo being in MPH before the police sort me out.

I'm a first-time Porsche owner, and I love this car.

You can always send the speedo off and have it done in KPH, not sure of the cost but it would drive me nutty always wondering while passing the police.

so try this.

"bjohnson" is the name, must be Brian Johnson of AC/DC, probably friends with Burton Cummings, the singer of "Running Back to Saskatoon".

Let the imagination roll.

And welcome from Nova Scotia.

Welcome! I empathize with rain. All you need to do is run the top down and carry a big umbrella. Don't go less than 80 mph or you'll get the leather interior wet. Have fun!

Made a brief stop in Saskatoon on a cross Canada trip 3 years ago. It looked like a nice place at least the station. It certainly is in the middle of the plains.

Umm, if you can't outrun the Mounties on their horses while you're in your 968, you've got bigger issues than worrying about the speedo display....

Seriously- welcome!

Problem is the Mounties now have 400 horses <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I rarely see the Mounties out on the highways around here. Probably because most of the roads are in such bad condition they need to give them extra hazard pay. Besides that, they'll rarely stop you unless you're really pushing it.

It's Saskatoon's finest I'm worried about as far as moving violations go. They've become quite clever about how they set up their speed traps in the past few years.
