Cooling Fan switching on and off
#1

My '92 coupe with 158,000 miles had the radiator, thermostat, coolant and thermal fan switch replaced in June 2005 at 134,500 miles. The car has maintained a consistently cool operating level (I'm living in northern Florida) until recently, when I found the cooling fan coming on when the car stopped or on engine shut down. It does seem to be running slightly warmer on the temp gage at this point, and the fan turn on is much more frequent. It tends to run, stop, run again, and then finally stops.

sounds like either ballast resistor or fan relay. there is a DIY here for diagnosing the cooling system.

Hey Flash, been awhile... I've looked for the DIY on diagnosing the cooling system under DIY Heating and Cooling; have somehow missed it. Could you elaborate?

Thanks..
