Hi from Niagara on the Lake Canada, 🇨🇦
#1

I have a 1992 - 968 Coupe in Guards Red/with Black interior - which I have owned since 1993? I also own an 1984 - 944 which I have owned since 1985. ? My 968 was purchased in Atlanta in 1993 and brought into Canada upon my return here in 1996. My 944 was purchased in Dayton during a work assignment there. Only had to have 'Day light running Lights' installed to comply with Canadian regs. Currently the 968 has only 61000 miles and is stored every winter season and has never been driven in snow! However, I am sure it would perform very well in the snow - with its great weight distribution - but you would need to fit some snow tires? i'm sure! Happy to answer questions! Rgds. Terry

Welcome Terry!  Funny thing, or maybe not so funny, the DRL relay is NLA.  Wonder what happens when it fails and cant be replaced? Can you get a waiver?

Anyway, sounds like you must have some stories to tell with those two cars.

Hello & Welcome!

My opinion is to not drive it in snow.  I drove mine once in snow (Wyoming & Colorado) after I bought it and was driving home accross the country.  I won't do it again.

OK, so it did have summer tires - - but, my point is it was no fun...actually, pretty scary when the tail end loses traction.  It's also pretty much a low-rider and it doesn't take much snowfall to start building up in all the lower bits.

Curious about the Canadian DRL requirement. Which lights do they want on?. In the US I use the fog lights as DRL. It's the only car, as I know of, that allows fog light on without headlights up. I always run lights on, day or night.......a habit. from my European youth.

The DRL that are used are the fog lights.  The relay turns them on when the idnition is on.

Even if you manually turn on the fog lights, lucky they turn off when you take the key out of the ignition ; those things would drain your battery in about five minutes .

Hi Everyone, thanks for your messages of welcome. Thanks also to Kim in Nova Scotia for answering the question about the DRL requirement - yes as soon as the ignition is switched on and engine the engine is started - the the DRL are activated automatically on my 92 - 968. Interestingly my 84 - 944 was built before the DRL requirement in Ontario came in to law (I think vehicles built before 1990 are exempted) - so I did not have the DRL issue to deal with Just thinking. How many 968's are there in Canada. Any thoughts?

What may be the last NA imported 968 is reportedly in Canada.

Kaj - we don't normally want to see references to other 968 sites. Sorry.

The Canadian version included:

Head light washers

Canadian emission

Heated seats

Kilometer speedo

Cabriolet had rear seats

There where 121 Coupes and 55 Cabriolet's shipped to Canada in this version from 92-95. I have no clue how many crossed the border back and forth since then

PS: I have just made it a habit to turn on/off the fog lights manually. Don't even think about, I just do  it and have never left them on by mistake.. The car will give you a beep warning though if you do.

So it looks like us semi locals really don't have any excuse not to meet somewhere "locally" once in a while....what do you think boys and girls?

There is an event in Novato at the Vintage shopping center on the first Sunday of the month, called "Cars and Coffee" We have hundred of classic cars here from 7AM to 10AM. No cost its all free and we have amazing cars from the Bay Area show up.

I have been the only 968 here for the last two years. Would be fun to have a 968 lineup
