Hello from Glasgow
#1

Just joined last night.

New to this.

I own a 1992 Coupe and stay in Glasgow, Scotland.

Getting the aftermath of Hurricane Katia just now, car snug, covered, in garage, thankfully.

Cheers

Welcome. I was in Belfast when Katia blew thru. I was very surprised. Guess we forget about them once they are off of our coast here in the US. Does this happen often there?

Thanks guys

gb, hope you had a good trip to Belfast, close as it is I've still not been to visit, it's not unusual to get really wet and windy weather this side, the tail end of a dissipating hurricane is easy to blame for it, interestingly there is a little fishing village in the north of the country called Plockton that has palm trees growing in part because of the gulfstream, it's worth a look, good seafood and good country roads.

Rap, hopefully AJG and myself will be able to babble away in dialect and keep you guys up to speed with the translations, talking of speaking da Kings English, have you seen the film the Kings Speech, well worth a couple of hours in front of the box, even in a small country like Alba you would be amazed how different AJG and me would sound to hear us talk, regional accents all over the shop!

Cheers!

Many thanks. I guess I'm at "the end of the road" with the front-engine water-cooled line, eh?

No way man, it's only the end of the road when it stops unfolding in front of you! and there are still 928s to consider and dare i say it, the panamera? It's got to be Guards even though my 968 is polar silver! Cheers

No, 928's not my style - too big and heavy and it looks like it's going down the road backwards (IMHO).

And no, you daren't say the Panamera. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> That's a 4-door 928! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Cheers Tama

Didn't mean to use dirty words in posts!

Good stuff, best thing about that new four door car is the way it uses the classic logo across the back - just like my 968.

I started looking at 928s before coming to my senses and getting my 968 - glad it worked out that way, I think it sits in a pretty unique place in the history of the company and it just puts the biggest smile on my face and there is space for my wife in the passenger seat and the kids in the back. The weans get almost as excited as me each time we take the car out!

The car is unfortunately currently up on jack stands and have started to strip down to replace the oil filter/pressure relief valve housing gasket - coolant only leaking from around the back lower bolt, no evidence of mixing, may well be the beginnings of more work over the Scottish winter as the sump gasket looks to have been over-torqued.

Hi Rap agreed gooffieish is certainly a good word, should be an entry in the American-Scots dictionary, need to get a definition for it though!

Hi Tama, its taken a minute to figure it, but guessing by your handle do you play the drums?

I do (or did). It mostly has the advantage of being a unique enough handle that it's available on most forums, so I don't have to remember my own name, which as I age gets increasingly challenging!
