Headlamp Range Adjusters
#1

This will probably not be an issue for you guys n girls in the USA, but due to age and inclement weather the seals in the headlamp range motors rot away the the little fellas fill up with water.

this is fine until all the components rust away and fall off the circuit board, and at £100 = $150 they are a bit pricey,

So i decided to find a cheaper solution...

let me know what you think

Hey Martin,

We on this side of the pond don't have such devices, so we may be a little uninformed as to their function.

What exactly do those little things do? Are they manual?

Think you might find they are controlled by the roller in the centre console

I’m sure they are standard in all 968s

Not to be obtuse, but my center console only has the top switch, central locking, and the mirror selection switch. Am I missing something (like a roller switch)?

my interior, headlamp range adjuster is the roll switch on the right, under the clock.

when you have a heavy load in the rear of the car the lights get too high and can blind on coming traffic, this allows you to lower them

only one of mine lowered before the fix,

I have a feeling it might be a Coupe only thing, you could never get enough in a cab to need them

that's interesting, the motors in UK cars keep the headlamps aligned even if you don't use them, its a mounting point for the light unit.

wonder what they did with USA cars,

I will try and get a picture of the location for comparison

Probably some stupid Department Of Transportation (DOT) thing. Remember, we could only have sealed beam headlights for ever. I think the 928 was the first Porsche with non-sealed-beams here in the US.
